Cascades is my Happy Place

Remember all those times your yoga teacher has told you to “Go to your happy place.” Cascades of the Sierra In the Reno suburbs very definitely is my happy place! It is quite remarkable that the three founders of this senior living community came up with a formula which really does provide for all the varied needs of the elderly. I’m 84 and now in my 13th month at Cascades. I very much enjoy interacting with my fellow residents and we are thoroughly pampered by Cascades’ excellent staff. I love the very comprehensive exercise programs here, enhanced by having an indoor pool. Another great benefit is our three well balanced meals, with tablecloths. I also very much appreciate the fact that Cascades provides independent living, assisted, living, and memory care. So if I eventually need assisted living or memory care, I can make the move easily all within the same building and with the same caring staff. I could not possibly recommend Cascades any more enthusiastically!

Very highly recommended!

Everything there is 5-star. Feels like a small community in that staff is so friendly and knows every resident. The activities and amenities make it feel like resort living. The restaurants have daily specials and all-day dining and the food is very good and included in the monthly fee.

Senior Living is Delightful!

After nearly eight months at Cascades, I am more enthusiastic than ever about independent living at Cascades. Management here is excellent, so attentive to residents' needs & wants. As well the staff are very welcoming & supportive. My fellow residents are very compatible. The extensive activities are great, including a fully equipped fitness center with a full-time trainer. It also is very important that we have excellent food, served throughout the day whenever you wish from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM. As well, I enjoy my spacious one bedroom apartment, with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and with a large balcony offering a panoramic view of the distant mountains.

Wonderful decision

Like a resort for Mom, with added peace of mind for our family

The things we like the most about the community is the overall look, feel, apartments, common spaces, restaurants all are high end at a very reasonable cost

I have spoken to Greg and Amber about my best friend. He’s not ready for cascade but they were super attentive and allowed me to vent with them about the challenges I have had with family. The family wants a diagnosis. He has been in hospital for over two months. He was confused and slowly mobile before going into hospital and now he is losing all his physical capabilities. In have voiced my opinion about getting him into SNC or Rehab to non avail.

Cascades -- My Happy Place!

The absolute best in every way! Yoga & meditation teachers frequently say "Go to your happy place." Cascades of the Sierra definitely is my happy place! Cascades not only provides a large apartment with a full kitchen along with three delicious many-choices meals a day, it also offers a rich array of activities. I couldn't possibly be treated better! I particularly appreciate the very well equipped fitness center at Cascades which comes complete with an excellent professional trainer. He very quickly has helped me rebuild depleted muscles.

Great attentive staff

We are very happy with Cascades. The ratio is 6 staff to one resident and they are very attentive to the residents. They call me when they notice my mom is off so we can be aware of any extra care needed.

Cascades of the Sierra review

Very expensive.. care givers are great ... weekend staff is very inconsistent and lacks quality. Rooms are good size but they charge more the bigger the room. Also they charge extra for care levels, med management and everything they possibly can... my mom is only still there because moving her somewhere else will be confusing and stressful for her... I'm always looking for something less expensive with all amenities included.. it's a huge corporation that does not truly care about their clients ... they only care about making money.

We chose the Cascades!

We love the whole place in particular we love the size and the floorplans of the apartments for independent care for my mother-in-law. We also like the fact that we can move her into assisted care without having to change facilities. The staff have all been very helpful and caring. we toured about five other places and this one just felt the best for my mother-in-law, yes I would recommend !

All of the staff are pleasant and helpful. The care staff are great, I couldn't ask for better. The cleaning schedule seems to be a little sketchy. It was once a week, in December there was a note telling her they would be gone for a couple of weeks. Now it looks like every two weeks. Since they are also doing laundry, that's not enough. The food that I have had is definitely good. They have two choices for lunch and dinner, not sure about breakfast. They could use a couple of normal items if you don't care for the specials. The cleaning and only having the two meal options are my mom's biggest complaints. Overall, I would recommend them. I feel like she is safe there and well taken care of.

Review for Cascades of the Sierra

It's been a great experience from the start. It was a difficult change for my mother, however they made her feel at-home and included. She now has many friends and is active in several clubs and walking groups. We picked this community because of the value for the cost.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Nevada’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Nevada’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.
