Our overall experience was mixed. We are genuinely grateful that the facility was willing to accept and care for our loved one when several other communities were unable to meet his needs. That willingness gave our family an option during a very difficult and stressful time, and we will always appreciate that. At the same time, our experience revealed significant concerns regarding the consistency of care, communication, responsiveness, and family support. These challenges often required our family to spend many hours each day at the facility advocating for our loved one to ensure needs were met. Overall, the facility was clean and appeared to be well maintained. Resident rooms and the common areas we visited were generally clean and well cared for I believe there are opportunities for improvement in the main dining room. Tables should be wiped down more thoroughly after meals, including the chair arms, and the floors should be swept more consistently. During one visit, we noticed food debris on the floor that remained there over the course of approximately 2–3 days. My daughter also observed ants in the dining area, which raised concerns about the cleanliness and sanitation of this shared space. Because the dining room is used by all residents multiple times each day, maintaining a consistently clean environment is especially important for both resident health and comfort. Unfortunately, our experience with the quality of care was disappointing. We frequently felt that our loved one's individual needs were not consistently prioritized. Response times to bathroom requests were often unacceptable. There were multiple occasions when my loved one waited more than 10 minutes for assistance, and one documented instance where the wait was close to 30 minutes. For someone who is dependent on staff for toileting, these delays significantly impacted both dignity and comfort. We also experienced considerable inconsistency in the care provided. Although detailed notes were entered into the medical record regarding medication administration, the way medications were given often differed depending on which staff member was working. Similarly, there was no consistent approach to toileting. Some staff transferred my loved one to the toilet using the Hoyer lift, while others stated they could not or would not do so and instead expected bowel movements to occur in an incontinence brief. We were required to purchase a Hoyer lift for his care, yet it was only used a handful of times. Communication among staff also appeared inconsistent. Different caregivers often provided conflicting information regarding my loved one's care plan, which created confusion and made it difficult for our family to understand what should have been standard practice. In addition, the professionalism of some staff members was concerning. On one occasion, a staff member was overheard using repeated profanity while discussing . This was inappropriate and did not reflect the level of respect and professionalism families expect in a care setting. One of the most difficult aspects of our experience occurred following my loved one's pass. During that time we had hoped for compassion, empathy, and support from the staff. Instead, some of the comments felt accusatory and implied that our family had done something wrong. Rather than offering comfort, these interactions added to an already painful experience. There were certainly staff members who were compassionate and provided excellent care, and we are grateful for them. However, the overall inconsistency in care, communication, responsiveness, and professionalism made it difficult to feel confident that my loved one's needs would be met consistently. I hope this feedback helps the facility strengthen staff training, communication, and person-centered care practices. Director of Sales – 5/5 The Director of Sales was one of the highlights of our experience. She was consistently attentive, approachable, and responsive to our questions and concerns. She took the time to listen, followed up when needed, and made us feel welcomed and supported throughout the admissions process and during our time at the facility. Her professionalism and genuine care were greatly appreciated. Executive Director – 2/5 Although I frequently saw the Executive Director walking through the hallways, I rarely observed interactions with residents or visiting family members. A visible leadership presence is important, but meaningful engagement with residents and families is equally valuable. Additionally, I emailed the Executive Director regarding a specific concern that was important to our family and did not receive a response. Acknowledging concerns and following up with families, even if only to confirm receipt and provide an update, helps build trust and demonstrates accountability. I believe there is an opportunity for leadership to be more accessible, communicative, and engaged with both residents and their families. The food was generally acceptable; however, there are several areas where the dining experience could be improved. Presentation of the meals could be more appealing, as thoughtful plating can make food more appetizing, especially for residents whose appetites may already be limited. When my loved one required a modified food consistency, we were informed that our family would need to provide those foods. This was unexpected and created an additional responsibility during an already challenging time. It would be helpful if the facility could better support residents who require specialized diets or clearly communicate these expectations before admission. I also believe the dining experience could be made more personal. Simple gestures, such as kitchen and dining staff greeting residents by name, making eye contact, and engaging them with kindness while serving meals, can help residents feel valued and respected. These small interactions can make a meaningful difference in a resident's daily experience. Based on our experience, I did not feel the level of care consistently matched the cost of the services provided. Our family found ourselves at the facility on a daily bases to ensure our loved one received the attention, assistance, and advocacy needed. We often questioned why we were paying for this level of care while feeling the need to be present so frequently to monitor and advocate for daily needs. Our loved one had complex care needs and required significant assistance. Before admission, we were assured that the facility could meet those needs. Unfortunately, our experience did not consistently reflect those assurances. The inconsistencies in care, communication, and responsiveness made it difficult to feel confident that needs would be met without family involvement. Families expect to remain actively involved in their loved one's life, but they should not feel that they must be present for several hours each day to ensure basic care is provided. I believe there is an opportunity for the facility to more accurately assess prospective residents' care needs before admission and to ensure that the staffing, training, and resources are in place to deliver the level of care that is promised.

CIEL has been nice. My day is adjusting as well as my mom. We have been there for about two months and things are settling nicely. They are very welcoming and work with the families and help to ensure comfort. I'd say a welcoming packet or the handbook right away would be helpful. It took us a bit to get that.

It is a wonderful place for your elderly parent to live. A beautiful home without all the unnecessary bells and whistles. Reasonable priced.

I give 5's across the board. They run a wonderful, caring, clean, supportive, professional program and my dad is thriving there. We would definitely recommend this community to other families based on the experience so far.

The friendliness of staff and residents - how helpful the staff is , always going the extra mile for the benefit of the residence and their families- the sweetness of the servers in the dining room adds to the general wonderfulness of Ciel . The attractiveness of the facility I find very pleasing - I love the art work on the walls and a painter myself have drawn Inspiration from the beautiful collection of art work . Love the fireplace gathering spot and the little cafe - and the whole place is beautifully decorated to give a warm and homelike feeling . My husband had settled in easily and for a bit shy quiet private person compared to me who can be quite outgoing and shy and private too On the other side of the coin with my art work and my spiritual life . It has blessed my heart that his idea of starting a men's group is being supported - he is quite good at this and has successfully joined and started men's groups with his spiritual communities over the years - he's the one who keeps our " sacred circle " group organized and flourishing- I bet he could run a book club too - very successfully / I'd love to attend if appropriate . My first sold art show is coming up so I gotta dash - much still to do - hopefully some of the staff and residents can attend . Its[date removed]- Lincoln Park area at a restaurant called Range on Webster - hours are 5-8:30 - delicious appetizers and find wine provided by the restaurant owner and self taught chef who only serves farm to table meat and vegetables all ethically sourced and served beautifully . People can dine in their regular menu if they desire before and during the show - you can find their menu on Range Restaurant website for those who want to enjoy the show and treat themselves to fine dining as well . Hope some of you can make it - Uber / Lyft cab accommodate the transportation and a group if 4 or 5 or 3 could split the cost - unfortunately with setting up the show and taking it down I cannot supply transportation but maybe could help find volunteer drivers . Anyway I'll be in touch - thank you for helping Gordon settle in I know he will be a positive member of your community - and once my fussy soli show is over I intend to spend more time enjoying spending time at Ciel with him .

We were very impressed with the facility and everyone seemed to be happy to speak with us. Everything was clean, neat and well taken care of by the staff. You could tell that everyone takes pride in their jobs. The amenities were impressive and the standards are set to have everyone’s welfare be the number one priority.

So far the Ciel has met or exceeded all my expectations. They are caring and they quickly follow through on requests my mom and I have made. They communicate all concerns and any treatments they are proving in a timely manner. Very happy with the Ciel

Ciel of Long Grove has provided excellent care and attention to our family. The nursing staff is attentive and always keeps us abreast of the health and well-being as well as any need of our family member. The facility is warm and inviting with plenty of natural lighting. It is clean and well managed. It should definitely be a place to visit if you are looking for a caring community to have as an option for your loved one.

Everything would received 5 stars except for the food, I'd say 4+ but that may be due to our loved ones dental issues. The dining staff does try very hard to accommodate everyone, and the few meals I ate with our loved one were good.

Nursing team is nice, but speed of service request can be better. Shuttle service and maintenance provide standout customer service. Coordinate with therapy vendors or service have been poor and slow. Dining can be improved and providing a menu for family to see, offering up alternate choices. Seems like everyone gets the served same. Food quality can be better as well. Overall clean and safe space that I feel is the right choice for my dad.

My husband and I were going to move his aunt and uncle back to Illinois from Florida. My husband's uncle had already spoken to Ciel in Long Grove and wanted us to go tour the facility. We knew we wanted to move them to this facility the moment we walked in the front door, and our feelings were confirmed when we met with the Sales Counselor, the Executive Director, and eventually the Director of Resident Care. We had many, many roadblocks in trying to get our aunt and uncle here, and these women were with us every step of the way, going above and beyond. Unfortunately our aunt and uncle both passed away-one month apart-before we could bring them back home to Illinois. The respect and compassion with which we were treated during this time is unsurpassed. We were never treated as "clients", but always as "family". I cannot say enough good things about this facility, and I would definitely recommend Ciel of Long Grove to anyone who may be looking for an assisted living facility.

The worst facility I have ever dealt with! I wrote a review on Google and they deleted it.. so that just shows you how much stuff they put under the rug! Don't take your loved ones here! The management doesn't decipline there employees and let them do whatever they want.. Anytime you have a concern they have a excuse and try to shut you up from advocating for patients.

The facility is beautifully furnished and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, too. We ended up at another facility that was closer to more family members but we would have been very satisfied living here.

I am beyond grateful for the exceptional care and support my mother has received at Ciel. From the moment she arrived, it was clear that this community is dedicated to creating a nurturing and vibrant environment for its residents. The staff at Ciel truly go above and beyond. They are not only skilled and professional but also genuinely compassionate. Each member of the team—from the caregivers to the administrative staff—approaches their role with kindness and dedication. It's evident that they truly care about the well-being and happiness of each resident. I would like to give a shout out to [name remove] , the executive director who always goes above and beyond with getting back to us on questions or things we need. I also want to recognise [name removed], care giver. She is always right there to provide care quickly and [name removed]is also always right there when we need her. I would recomend this community based on staff, value and community overall.
