My review for Courtyard at Mt. Tabor

I love it here. Everything about Courtyard pleases me. The residents are delightful. Most are engaged in social interaction be it games, dining, gardening or meetings. I chose to join games right after moving in and met some wonderful ladies. In the dining room, I'd walk up to a table and say, "Hi, I'm [name removed] and I'm new here. May I join you?" Soon it felt comfortable going to eat. The food and service is great. The staff at Courtyard are always looking for ways to improve their jobs and are polite and friendly toward residents. I am satisfied with the cleanliness at Courtyard. There are several sizes of one bedroom units and I love mine. Most have a patio or balcony. My apartment is on the first floor with tall trees in view. I highly recommend Courtyard at Mt Tabor and feel so lucky to be here.

Beautiful community

Courtyard at Mount Tabor creates a truly welcoming and meaningful place for residents to call home. One of the features I find especially beautiful is the opportunity for residents to create and care for their own garden spaces. This resident-created garden is a wonderful example—it is colorful, personal, thoughtfully maintained, and full of life. Having a space to plant, tend, and make their own gives residents more than a beautiful view. It supports independence, purpose, creativity, and the comfort of home. The care reflected in this garden adds so much warmth to the community and shows how meaningful it can be when residents are encouraged to continue the activities and interests that matter most to them.

You need to tour the facility to appreciate it.

Overall, the experience is pretty good. The facility is excellent; built just before the pandemic and built specifically for memory care, easy clean surfaces, TVs with in-wall wiring, and strong WiFi everywhere. In the last 22 months there has been a lot of turnover in the help staff. I think this is common in this industry. There has been a core group of really talented help staff that balances out the turnover. Turnover includes the activities director; the current one is hard working and excellent. Food is moderate portions, tasty, and healthy.

Would recommend

What we like the most about the community is that they are welcoming, clean community with walking trail. good follow through from staff. Their in house care agency could communicate better.

Review for Courtyard at Mt. Tabor

The staff was friendly, and my parents enjoyed some of the activities. Unfortunately, they were dissatisfied with the size of the apartment and the food. Particularly the food. They complained of the portions being tiny, but even worse, of the food being unpalatable and sometimes even a misleading representation of what the recipe claims to be. Ultimately, since they stopped eating meals there altogether, they decided that Courtyard at Mt. Tabor was not worth [Amount Removed] per month.

Nice facility. Good energy vibes and friendly staff. Unsure if a larger community is appropriate for my family member’s needs but wanted to see the layout, rooming options and availability of personalized care.

Feels like home

Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. My mom has been enjoying meeting new people, the food has been good and not cooking has been great. The building and grounds are always clean and well kept and they do some light cleaning regularly in the room as well. Her apartment is a good sized one bedroom on the second floor with a beautiful view of trees and a hillside where the walking path runs.

Mt. Tabor Courtyard was very nice, kind and accommodating, especially at the last minute. My sister said the food is great and the people are very nice . I personally have not been there so I can't give detailed responses, but my encounter with them over the phone and with emails are terrific.

Courtyard at Mt Tabor

Staff at Courtyard has been kind. I won't say it's been without challenges but it's to be expected. People with dementia are just as complex as those without. I find staff to is open to conversation and problem solving for the many changing needs that arise.

I would recommend. They are rapidly attentive. My mother had vertigo, and five people were at her side within moments. Everyone is friendly, and the grounds are well kept. My parents are happy with the apartment, the staff, and the sense of community. They are already members of the welcoming committee. Their only grievance is the food.

Reminds me of a Holiday Inn Express.

Newer building. Great WiFi, 40" TV and cable built-in, bright, open spaces, reminds me of a Holiday Inn Express. They do seem to have staffing trouble but are handling it well. Manager is an interim and is skilled but stressed. Activity staff is newish and very good.

Not adequate for our situation

Great caring staff, but not adequate for my wifes needs. The night checks were dutifully performed with a polite knock and opening the door to verify everything was alright. After answering that everything was fine and the door closed again, my wife needed to get up to pee, which she couldn't do safely alone. She was helpless and the help wasn't coming back for a couple of hours. Luckily I was visiting there to help, but I was not a part of the care equation. I withdrew my wife from this facility to provide our best homecare I could provide, care that matched my wife's needs. I don't hold any fault againt the facility. It simply was not a good match..

Perfect Fit for Mom

What 'sold' my mom on Mt Tabor is that it's obviously upper middle class and 'her people's with art on the walls, well- dressed, well- educated, retired professional types. She's a bit elitist. They have many activities for clear-minded older people, regular interesting field trips (like the Art Museum) and even have a Happy Hour it's BYOB but they sit around in a bar-like atmosphere to socialize. The apartment was an average size, it was all well- maintained with responsive staff. The dining room feels like an upscale bistro.

Friendly, clean & cozy

My mom is particular. We knew it was time for her to move into Senior Living, more for socialization than anything else, but after visiting several retirement living communities, we were feeling we'd never find the right fit for her. Then we visited The Courtyard at Mt Tabor. It's filled with well- educated, professional retirees, it's clean, there are lovely paintings in the hallway, and the dining room feels more like a local bistro. Staff are pleasant, considerate, and proactive in taking care of any issues. Mom loves it here, and that's what matters most. We know she's in good hands.

Smaller more quaint community for a quieter living experience with personable staff who care.

I would give them all a 4 because it's not home and that would be a 5. The only one I would down grade would be food. at would be a three because she is diabetic and needs mechanical soft food because of having no teeth. The staff is wonderful and my mom is very happy there. It's a smaller community which my mom liked compared to some of the big places.

Review for Courtyard at Mt. Tabor

You can tell it's a profit-driven business, they are understaffed and getting follow-up on any concerns is impossible. No one seems to be actually accountable for anything related to billing, etc. but care staff are nice and I think they pay attention to residents. They have high turnover so I'm guessing pay is low.
