Very nice facility. For the cost I would expect something with better views. Very similar facilities were about 10-15% lower in cost. We would prefer memory care completely separate from skilled nursing especially with multiple floors. The remodel was a decent bandage- some of the bathrooms we saw needed to also be updated.

Highlights: aides and nurses who go above and beyond to help your loved one have a good life. Decent food. Activity calendar. Cleanliness (except for mold in his room that we had to clean ourselves). Lowlights: finding my dad falling out of a chair during activities, aides sitting around talking and laughing and not helping him up. Not making sure he got bathed when he was supposed to be bathed. Finding him dead in his room. Sending us an invoice “because we didn’t give them 60 days notice” shortly after his death. That said, you can make Eden Vista work—be very active and visit as often as possible to stay on top of things for your loved one.

It seems like they are adding more residents to existing staff. In the afternoons it seems like they just mostly sit in the tv area. I think they are going through some changes right now

Care was not as good as it should be. Short staff and slow response to calls. Probably not recommend at those times unless they have changed their practices. I believe they were changing owners at the time and a lot was in upheaval but still unsafe practices.

I was searching for an assisted living facility for my Godfather when his health took a turn and he couldn't live alone anymore. I reached out to Eden Vista Hoffman Estates due to their proximity to Ascension St. Alexius Hospital and the high reviews I found online. [name removed], the Director of Sale and Marketing, met with me the following day due to the urgency of the situation. Veronica sat with me and talked about my loved one's needs, both from a health and daily living standpoint as well as what he liked to do. She also went through options of care at Eden Vista Hoffman Estates as his health needs changed. I felt like I was in good hands and that Eden Vista was a company that valued trust, transparency, and integrity. [name removed]gave me an in-depth tour of all areas of the facility. I spoke to a few residents while sitting in the lobby and they loved living there. The personal and professional care given at Eden Vista Hoffman Estates is the the best!

The facility does struggle with being short staffed. Communication with staff is a slow process. But we know that [name removed] is safe there and treated well.

The staff is friendly and kind and the facility is clean. My aunt suffered from bedsores for too long. Not super supportive in transportation needs especially for wheelchair. She only gets to shower 2/week.

What we like about the community is the activity directors and physical therapy are really great. I do think they should have one more CNA's on shift so residents can be changed more promptly. I do also think that the memory care residents are treated so kindly

We chose this facility initially because we needed a facility that coudl do a 2 person transfer, and they were able to do that here. Staff makes the residents feel like family! They are so kind!

A little expensive for the care our loved one receives. They are understaffed and have long wait time after pushing call button before staff comes to assist. I would probably not recommend this community at this point. I believe they were bought bulk another company and so lots of staffing issues and shortages.

She is content for now and that's a blessing. Transportation options could be better. Overall it's been as good as it could. I've had all positive interactions with the staff. The residents have been friendly as well.

My father in law has passed but we were very very happy there. He came out of his shell and did well while he was there. Everyone was super nice there. Most residents leave door open when they are in their unit. Every single person who walked by say Hi [name removed] . Not just a hi but by name. They got him to go down stairs for meals which he was not happy about and ended up enjoying. The response from management was very prompt when we had a concern. He enjoyed the food. Had a good variety. Biggest complaint was no stuffing on turkey day ! We had brought him a plate from home so not a big deal. He was fully incontanent so needed to be changed and a 2 person lift or sometimes Hoya. Most places wouldn't take him. I did negotiate in the contract a flat fee per month if he decided to not go down for meals or couldn't. Otherwise it is very pricey to pay per meal. A little deceiving in the paperwork. The transportation provided by them is for appointments only and is very limited. We thought since we were within the radius we could use the bus to transport anywhere including our home. Bus was broken more then it worked while he was there. We realize nowhere is perfect and everywhere is short staffed but overall very pleased while he was there. We did tour over 10 places. Stayed for rehab at several different ones and still more than happy with charter overall.

Charter was chosen because it's one of the few Level or Care 2 facilities in the area. It appeared to be the best option at the time and was a short drive away.I would tell people that the level of care is below average, the menu could be improved and the additional cost of Level 2 care is overpriced especially when my mother is rarely ever assisted by two care aides when she is moved in and out of her bed.

They are short staffed and would rather take all the residents into a common area to watch them instead of allowing them to be in their room and go check on them. They do not check on the residents very often and do NOT answer the call bell in a timely manner if even at all.

Charter Senior Living is a community that truly cares for your elderly loved one. The staff is highly trained and goes above and beyond to make residents feel valued.
