Merion Gardens Shines with Care and Compassion

Merion Gardens is very clean, serving good and nutritious food. Wonderful activities for residents and staff is very inclusive of residents' families. We are extremely happy with my dad's care. My mom passed away this spring and staff was marvelous with us, my dad, and coordinating with hospice while they cared for my mom. Facility is showing some need for some tender loving care, but is kept very clean and tidy. Thank you for asking.

Review for Merion Gardens Assisted Living

This is a residence of care that focuses on a homey environment and family culture. At the same time, the staff keeps vigilant and careful attention to what is happening with each resident and is actively communicative with family members. Activities are frequent and fun and the staff works to be inclusive and encouraging to all residents to participate. The intake process is made supportive of families and their loved ones entering Merion Gardens. [name removed] is knowledgeable, compassionate, professional, and very competent, a pleasure with whom to work. The administrative staff is the same. The director and business office, to the nursing staff are the same as well. While Merion Gardens does not have the luxury amenities of many new residence care models, their physical facility is VERY clean and always being maintained and upgraded. The residence suites / apartments (whichever you call the) are well maintained and very clean. Laundry services are done for residents individually - your loved ones clothing is not mixed up with others' laundry! A huge plus. Food is good and plentiful... need I say more than this. Our family is very happy with the care my parents are receiving. Pricing is in the mid-range and the management provides very helpful financial information for those considering moving to an assisted-living option.

They meet/exceed all expectations of our family

The Nursing staff is forthcoming in all matters and takes prompt action to needs, real or perceived, of my mother in law. The expanded studio apartment is large enough to move around in with a rollator including into the bathroom/shower/toilet. Heat is readily available (hot!), there are many activities for housebound people to enjoy if they choose to participate. Food is reasonably tasty considering that the kitchen produces everything in bulk fashion. The cleaning people, quite joyful usually, arrive regularly and the laundry is washed twice a week;

Merion Gardens Assisted Living: A Community Nurturing Health, Heart, and Home

Great staff - clean and spacious living quarters - great food - wonderful activities and great follow up with families. I definitely recommend to other families. The staff there truly cares and pays attention to your loved ones. They offer frequent and timely feedback and information to the families of residents. The place is lovely and clean and well maintained. The food, activities, and overall tone and environment are welcoming, loving, and again, the staff is excellent and truly care about the residents.

Poor care and not attentive to her needs.

Mom was there 3 months. She fell twice and no one told me even though I questioned her bruises. Head administrator brought in COVID-19 - and it spread to 14 residents - 4 of which died - INCLUDING my Mom. When I went in this administrator was not even wearing a mask just coming back from quarantine. One positive - I got to wear full PPE and be with Mom when she died one week after getting the virus.

Merion Gardens is a good fit for a family member

I really thought they were great. I had no regrets ever putting my loved one here. They' couldn't help Covid came along. It was difficult on the residents being more isolated. But they did the best they could. Everybody I came into contact with was great. I have absolutely no negatives to say. My loved one was happy here.

She deserved better

Our loved one moved in at the beginning of October, and just three months after one of the administrators brought in the virus. Our loved one contracted the virus and passed away within a week later. We did not see people wearing masks nearly enough, and we think they could of followed the safety protocols a little better. Our loved one did not receive the care we were expecting, they did not give her her medicine properly, charge her hearing aids, or give her the compression socks she needed to be wearing. Our loved ones clothes went missing as well as other belongs. One good thing they did, was the last three days before she passed they allowed us into the community, all suited up and masked up to be with her, however I would not recommend the Merion Gardens.

Overall a good place for a loved one

From our understanding when it came to the care givers some were great, and some were not. We think they should do a better job weeding out the poor performers. The rooms were typical and what we expected, they were a little on the small side but well equipped. It definitely seemed like the community wanted the residents to be out and about rather than sit in their rooms

Wonderful place

My Dad has just passed away but the LOVE and care provided to him by the staff in the Special Care Unit was outstanding! They treated him with kindness, dignity and respect. They kept him as safe as possible, got him anything he needed and recommend things to improve his final days. From Housekeeping to kitchen staff to the Care staff and Administration, everyone cared for not just my Dad but my family

Gave My Loved One Back Her Independence.

We chose Marion Gardens because it fit in with close proximity to our house. When we toured, we just go a good feeling about the place, so we felt it would be a good fit for us. The place is pleasant, roomy, quiet and clean. We also love that it gave my loved one back her independence.
