Overall would recommend

Overall, the experience has been positive. The staff was friendly, and the initial tour was comprehensive. I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of staff members I met and would have liked a directory of names and responsibilities. However, I found that the receptionist was always able to direct me to the appropriate person to answer my questions. This was my first experience placing a loved one in assisted living. The facility is very clean, and everyone is very friendly. Overall, I am pleased with the quality of care. I did encounter a problem regarding my sister-in-law's CPAP that took several weeks to resolve. It turned out that a doctor's order from her sleep physician was needed, and once that was obtained, the issue was resolved. The administrative staff has been helpful with questions and issues. My sister-in-law is gluten sensitive, which initially presented a challenge with dining because there is not a dedicated gluten-free kitchen. We were able to work out a compromise. The activities staff has been great and has involved my sister-in-law often. Morningside is comparable to the other assisted living facilities I toured, and I would say it was the most attractive, both inside and out. If I personally needed assisted living, I would choose this location for myself. I would also like to recognize[Name Removed], the Marketing Director at Morningside, for her assistance, patience, and willingness to answer my questions and address my concerns as my sister-in-law and I became acquainted with the day-to-day operations of the community. She even provided me with her personal cell phone number in case I had questions or issues outside of business hours.

Has room for Improvement

There are some standouts on the non-healthcare care team. The healthcare team has been in turmoil at the leadership level, I'd give the techs and LPNs a 5 but the leadership a 1. There is a new manager, there are repairs underway, but my father and mother have had a lot of complaints, especially about the food (cold when served to the second seating almost without fail). None of the management team that was in place, with the exception of the financial person, is still there from when we moved my parents in late last year.

Good Rehab Experience

Well I'm really only guessing from what my mom has told us. I've only been to the facility twice since we are 1500 miles away. But I've spoken to my mom quite a bit and she seems fairly happy with the place.

The facility is clean, well kept and smelled good. The residents were eating lunch and there were CNAs escorting or assisting residents who were done their lunch. The couple rooms I walked past were clean and were odorless. All staff smiled and said hello. I am strongly considering Morningside for my mom for respite care.

Lovely facility with caring personnel. The facility is very clean, warm, contemporary looking and not decadent which is a concern for most of these facilities. The administration is very welcoming. I also appreciate A Place for Mom and their speedy recommendations.

Our experience

I like that she was included in Christmas Party off-site even though we had not had opportunity to set up her expense account. I also like that she has been included and engages in all activities instead of spending time by herself in room. I also like that severely inflicted are in another area so that clients are not always faced with what is coming.

Our family's experience thus far is good

The level of direct personal care is actually a 5. The wellness team rates a 4, but only because of some inconsistency and some recent staff changes that will probably be overcome soon. The facility is well-kept and clean, everyone is very friendly, and the activities staff has done a great job thus far of trying to get my parents engaged with the community. The food has had issues. It's generally ok, but there have been some complaints about items running out during service, and regular alternative items not being available. Some of this is likely related to supply issues during the holidays, but it has detracted from an otherwise stellar food service.

Review for Morningside House At Satyr Hill

the facility that my dad went to was nice, had a bumpy start with his meds but got that worked out and they were very responsive. My dad's room was very nice and spacious. He wasn't a fan of the food he said it was always cold and tasteless. Other than that everything was great.

Would recommend, but certain areas need improvement

I would say that my family's experience with the nursing staff has not been the best. There is a lack of communication among staff members and also a lack of follow-through. But I overall, it's a very nice place

Our families experience

The room studio is well located on the first floor. He has a nice view of the gazebo and gardens. They offer some transportation assistance for Dr appointments. The residents are now nice . What they could improve on is the food! It is not appetizing and really isn't nutritious. Very starchy and for almost [fee removed] it should offer healthier options. He employs an aide outside the community and she will walk with him and clean his glasses fill his humidifier and other little things. He has had issues with the community making his bed. They also don't adhere to his medical plan set by his Drs. It is hard to find suitable personnel but that is everywhere! I believe it does meet his needs
