It's worth a consideration

The staff is very patient and friendly with my 70 and 72 yr old parents. The food is good they try to accommodate everyone as much as they can. there is a calendar they sign up for trips probably 1 to 2 times a week either to restaurants or just other things like a museum. The room is a good size they have all different size rooms for whatever you need for us the size is perfect they can't keep a lot of junk in the room. There is a maid that comes in every week or 2 just to do a quick minor simple cleaning. Overall, it works for us.

Disappointed

They were helpful to get him a placement. But their disability parking is atrocious! He has to walk a long way shuffling with his walker! They need handicap parking.

Feels like home

Absolutely a 5. [name removed] and staff are friendly, helpful, and professional! If your looking for a place with a reasonable amount of tenants? This is your place. Clean, well maintained, and a Grand early 1900's feel to it but, completely modern. Feels like home!

A Positive Environment That Feels Like Home

The staff is very kind, cohesive and responsive. There's an overall positive vibe that has done wonders for my mother. She raves about the food. I have tremendous peace of mind with her there.

Staff is very friendly

It was very easy and they helped a lot with us not knowing what to do or where to start. It took about 6 months for them to accept it but now they are regulars have friends and do stuff almost every week on field trips.

Bed bugs, suicide hotline, Sunday construction

The place is full of BED BUGS. The boss lady harasses residents, causing a disability retired person to have to call a SUICIDE HOTLINE at 1 a.m. one morning. There is on going ongoing construcfion with no regards to resident's comforts, such as working all day Sundays, but having Saturday's off. Great for after dinner naps, as dinner is at noon on Sunday. Oh, did I mention the BED BUGS. It wasn't in the brochure.

Review for Pleasant View Retirement

Problems: 1. Bed bugs 2. Lack of quality food 3. Facility issues. My mom had a persistent case of bedbugs and it took the facility far too long to address the situation. They should have emptied her apartment and moved her to another while they remedied this but didn't until there were three failed treatments and she was covered in bites and we had to threaten them with legal action. The turnover with cooks is noted. The property manager was cooking for a while. The portions are minuscule. They eliminated butter and replaced it with margarine citing health concerns (not appropriate--it's not a health facility) and the alternative entrée at dinner is often a sandwich. Facility needs new carpet throughout. It's stained and water damaged. After a recent issue with an exploding colostomy bag it took weeks for a professional cleaning to be done and the stench lingered for weeks. There was some sort of water damage at the basement level and the ceiling fell in and say that way for weeks. The property owner lives elsewhere and infrequently appears. The residents were promised the pool would be usable by summer but never was. The entry has torn carpet. And the building is unevenly painted. Finally, there are facilities folks who work there and live there who are loud at night, often hollering down hallways in the middle of the night to communicate with one another.

Great retirement home

I helped move my dad into here in August. All staff has been friendly and extremely helpful. He has been enjoying the activities, dinners, weekly cleaning, staff, other people who live there. I have heard no complaints from him at all. I would recommend this to retired people looking for a smaller apartment size because of the activities, weekly shopping trips and dinners.

A great transition for elderly parent

Pleasant View Retirement home (PVRH) has been a welcoming and safe place for my elderly mother to live in for the past 2 years. We needed a place to house my mother while we sold her condo, in anticipation of moving her into an assisted living facility. It was supposed to be a very temporary stay, but my mother loved it so much that she did not want to leave! Although PVRH is considered independent living, it provided evening meals, games, entertainment, field trips, and rides to doctor appointments / pharmacy etc... PVRH provides a weekly trip to get groceries which was very helpful to our family and allowed my mother some independence. The staff were caring and were quick to respond to any question or concern. I would highly recommend this facility as a home for your loved one.

Lots of potential; lots of drawbacks

The building is beautiful but needs to be updated for safety, aesthetics, and structure. I'm embarrassed to bring my friends through the public spaces. The dining is promoted as "restaurant-style", but the menus are limited and decided by the administrative staff. The chef is good but has no budgetary say over anything but the food. The service is iffy so one can wait as long as 45 minutes for their entree to be served, and sometimes it's cold. The monthly Residents Meeting limits resident input and those running it have shut down resident input mid-sentence and chastised residents for actions the management doesn't like. It is not a give-and-take opportunity. There is no suggestion box. Staff are friendly, but make excuses for why some things go wrong rather than tell us what's being done to fix them. There's a lack of management direction and/or expertise. In short: it's been disappointing. The idea is great, it just needs an owner who care and staff with better know-how.

Pleasant View Retirement is a beautiful facility with amazing people who live and work there.

Pleasant View is a wonderful place, the people who live there are quite amazing. It is a warm community where there is lots to do. A place where people dress up for dinner, and the facility is always decorated, for every occasion. The building is beautiful but it is really the people that make it special! The people who live there and the people who work there! There are many trips to be part of and lots of fun and activities! Pleasant View really does a great job of taking care of people!

Pleasant View a wonderful place to live.

Pleasant View is a wonderful community. We have a Welcome Committee, that greets you when you move in. When you’re ready, there are 7 members that will host you at dinner throughout the first week you’re here. We introduce you to other residents, show you around and answer any questions you may have, as well as enjoy a delicious meal together. We have many activities you may join in. We go on field trips to museums, to restaurants and movies to name a few. No one will hassle you to join but, I can pretty much guarantee, you’ll want to. Come see what we’re all about you won’t be sorry you did.
