We are comfortable here, and overall, we have had a positive experience. The apartment size is outstanding and very comfortable, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. We would rate the friendliness, quality of care, and administrative staff highly. We do not require much care ourselves, but the staff has been attentive and helpful when needed. There are plenty of activities, and we appreciate the variety offered. Cleanliness could be improved somewhat, particularly around the food station in Building 2. The juice dispenser sometimes smells bad and does not look clean, and the hot-water containers for the food could also use more attention. The biggest area for improvement is the food. There is too much breaded and fried food, while the vegetables are often overcooked and repetitive. On multiple occasions, the food has been cold and soggy. We would like to see more nutritious and varied meal options, especially for an older population. Overall, we are comfortable here and appreciate the staff and spacious apartment, but we feel the value for the money could be better, particularly when it comes to the quality and variety of the food.

[name removed]'s room was great. We were able to arrange her furniture to accommodate her wheelchair so she could get around. We found the facility to be clean. The staff was mostly friendly, with some being better with [name removed] on her uncooperative days than others. She was depressed when she came to you, and I did not feel that this was always taken into account on her difficult days. Overall, the quality of care was very good. She was in and out of the hospital a number of times, and the staff helped make those transitions easier. The administrative staff was excellent. They were always available to answer questions and helped us navigate every part of [name removed]'s stay. We felt that [name removed] received excellent value at Saucon Valley Manor. Because of the great care [name removed] received, one of her family members now has parents staying there as well.

Only got care when I was there. Got very sick there. I miss several days due to illness was not getting meds or being feed rush to hospital very sick. his doctor said they only took care while I was there and not when I was not able to go he had to have been sick for a couple of days and ignored. So sad. Never got a sympathy call when he died

From my few dealings I would say 5 as the few folks I have dealt with have been great. Her apartment is nice everything is clean they have lots of activities. My sister [name removed] complains a bit about the meals but my older sister [name removed] thinks it's because of others complaining. [name removed]'s cognitive ability is not the greatest.

Overall we would recommend

Mom has a large room, her own bathroom, small refrigerator and microwave. Plenty of activities, but chooses not to participate. She has not fallen since she moved there, and wears a alarm around her neck in case she needs help. Price of the place is always a factor. Not sure she has the money for the rest of her life. Other then that. everything is good. Mom has her own vacuum and pretty much cleans herself, but they do clean her room and bathroom and empty her trash. Her mobility is limited and she has very little short term memory.

Like any place family needs to be involved I am there very often at times everyday. They definitely know who I am and you need to speak up . I do plan on doing some research about helping the food get better it is nothing to right home about . As far as I am concerned it is edible, and some aides are better than others . There was a medtac along time employee and she wasn't very nice to me and also the staff so I complained about her and she wasn't very nice moved to another floor with less contact with the residents. The owner does listen to me. I will say. I am there a lot and am the type to speak up. I think at times they are short handed and aren't always quick to respond to the call button.

We love SVM! The activities are fun, engaging, and promote friendships! The "field trips" allow guest to experience freedom, and they have PT, OT, and Speech Therapy on site!

Very friendly and helpful. Seem to really care for residents. Very clean and apartment size is good for my dad. Food is average (3) per my dad but definitely much better than what he could cook. Seem to be plenty of activities but my dad has done only a couple.

Safer than alone at home

1/Overall experience, it was hard to get used to, but now it's like home . 2/ This place is clean 3/ the majority of the people are friendly and easy to get along with. 4/ the staff is truly concerned with the care of the residents. 5 / don't see the Administration staff and suggestions are pretty much ignored. 6 / food leaves a lot to be desired and the serving is terrible, the food is scooped out and put on a cold plate, so when you get it , lucky to be warm . They need training on how to dish out food. Kitchen needs someone closer to a chef, they need recommendations from a dietitian. But the soup is always hot and good. The stuffed chicken is good as long as it's hot. Lunch meat sandwiches are a joke 2 very thin lunch meat with a slice of cheese, usually served on a croissant. Why can't we get a decent sandwich on rye or other bread , croissants seam to be big here. Pasta is usually not cooked well or mushy. The ham with pineapple is big on Sunday and is good except for size of serving.7/ there are 2 ladies that do activities and are good at it and very friendly. 8 / I can't really comment on this question.

Recommend without reservation!

I would rate this a 4/5 stars only because of dull plain hallways and lack of clear signage for directions. The care of our loved one was also good with some caregivers better than others. Sally had many medical issues and I think a few people found her uncooperative and didn't realize the extent of her problems. I think your staff would benefit from having a move in hello/welcome to introduce themselves to your new residence. It would go a long way to make them feel welcome. That being said, [Name Removed] was so kind and accommodating. Sally had a hospitalization and needed to change rooms because she needed more care and she gave us some extra time to get her moved to the new room. She was very responsive to any questions and able to meet with [Name Removed] team when appropriate. I would recommend SVM without reservation.

It's hard to judge since my husband is unable to walk and doesn't go to activities. One thing I would caution them about is they do nor accept Medicade so if you run out of money your out. Also you need to supply every thing there was only a bed and chest in room no tv and tv is extra. Maybe this is typical not even a light. And I didn't realize that all his meds are extra and quite high. But he is comfortable there and seems to get good care. Also price was different than quoted and they added extra for his care. But it is still cheaper than other places

Happy Mom!

Her apartment is very nice, and fairly clean. Most of the staff is very attentive and very caring. Most the food is good, she doesn't complain about that too much. They have lots of activities some of which she participates. It helps to keep her social.

Disappointed at response time

Was told that response time should be 10-20 minutes. After pressing the alert button. Was visiting 2x per day and not once did someone come without me going to front desk. When button is pressed, there is a beeper and light flashes outside room. Their system is antiquated, the latest button pressed goes to the top of the list. And once the nurse visits that room, they turn off the alert. Which turns off all the alerts behind the one they visited. This is absolutely crazy. And there is no communication between the ones that dispense the mess and the others who tell us that they will have the one who dispenses the mess come by. What a [profanity removed] show here! Although the nurses do smile and are not mean. That is the only reason that this place doesn't get 1 star.

Peace of Mind Knowing Mom Is Well Cared For at Saucon Valley

Overall experience went well. Mom likes it there, except she is bored. Very clean facility, workers are very helpful. She likes getting her hairline once a week, but they don't always remind her, or she forgets because of short term memory. She says meals are good, but does not remember what she ate. She needs help in the shower, but she will not ask. Like the idea of a call button around her neck if she needs help.

A very good place for your loved one

I feel that it is a good value for the care my mom received. The staff was kind and did a really good job caring for my mom. She was happy there. The activities director planned nice activities that my mom always participated in and enjoyed. The owner is excellent and very involved. She really knew my mom which I appreciated. Her communication is excellent. The building is a bit older compared with others we looked at. However, we were very happy with the care she received.
