Serene Gardens is a blessing
Serene gardens is a nice clean facility. Most of the staff is super helpful and kind. They are friendly and give great care. Occasionally you have to remind them of dietary needs and medications, but I would highly recommend them overall.

Our overall experience with Serene Gardens was good. The SG administration made my mother and I feel very welcome and accommodated. The room size was generous, with plenty of room for furniture from home and personal items. The patio was a nice size, with a private, locked patio overlooking some greenery. The food at SG was very nice and there was a large variety of types, diverse ethnicities, and recipes on a weekly basis. The majority of the meals were hand-prepared, and the portion sizes were massive.

My mother-in-law has been there since August 2025 she has thrive there and they have taken very good care of her. They currently have a new cook and she is much happier with the food. The place is clean and the caretakers come in a timely manner when she pushes her button I have offered to to move my mother-in-law to some of the other places that we visited or to look for a new place, but she does not want to. She is comfortable where she is and she likes the activities and the people.

Another community would probably be a better option for a loved ones caregiving and for communication with the administrators. I was told that my loved one would be taken care of and she wasn't taken care of to what I expected or was promised. You are promised everything when you sign the contract with them, but then you find out that many promises don't happen

Important points: 1. Admin staff are rarely on site. As a result, our family member was without pain meds for a long period of time. 2. Aids are left alone. Aids are not on the same page with med delivery or communicating rules to family members. I believe after speaking to the Wellness Director, clear guidelines have not been communicated. Staff do their best. 3. Hospice nurses give directives that are not followed. It takes hiring and outside aid or a family member to make sure instructions are followed. I would not recommend this facility!! At a time when things are stressful, the admin staff left our family feeling stressed and frustrated.

From the moment I walked into the facility I knew this was the right place for my mom. All of the staff takes great care of her and the food is excellent. Caring, clean, and a variety of activities.

I am unhappy with staff at the facility. I would tell others looking to choose a facility that has trained fully skilled at patient care and with memory care training if this is needed for their loved one. I would not recommend Serene Gardens of Rochester Hills.

My mother is in the memory care side of Serene Gardens, having started out on the other side. Both sides are clean, nicely decorated, and secure. They share an executive director, who is a warm and wonderful woman, and a health and wellness director, who also obviously cares for the residents. They both help when my mother is refusing to take a shower. She can be so obstinate at times, but I fully trust that no one there is ever cruel to her. As for the aides, some are great and some are not, but every time I visit, she is clean and dressed. She says the food is good. They get real food, like oatmeal, pancakes or scrambled eggs, not dry cereal, as in some other more expensive places. The activities are well-suited for those with cognitive impairment. They play bingo, use pool noodles to bat balloons around, bring dogs in to pet, and have a worship service every Tuesday. You can pay $[removed]a month for a "better" facility, but you will not find better management anywhere.

Just ok. Everyone has their own specific needs so it's hard to be everything to everyone. As always some people are very good and should be paid a lot more. Others are in the wrong line of work.

I like that it is smaller than most. Staff knows residents by name.It was very hard and stressful to pick. It was comparing "apples and oranges". It did seem to be a good price. Also they had an arrangement to get my loved one, out for an outside doctors appointment.
