The Arbors at Stoneham

About the facility

The Arbors at Stoneham in Stoneham, Massachusetts, is an assisted living and memory care community marked by an airy foyer with cathedral ceilings, a state-of-the-art campus designed to meet the needs of your loved one. Founded in 2014, the community has 58 traditional residences and 26 for memory support. The Arbors at Stoneham is among ten communities in the family-owned and operated business with a quarter of a century of experience in serving seniors.

Your loved one can be helped with everyday tasks such as grooming, and taking medications. Nurses are available throughout the day and on-site health care visits — including for physical therapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, and audiology — eliminate the need for inconvenient trips outside the community. Weekly housekeeping and personal laundry services take away the hassle of household chores.

In the memory care neighborhood, residents have individualized care plans overseen by caregivers with specialized training and specialized services and amenities designed for seniors living with dementia.

The Arbors builds a strong community through its resident council, daily programs, weekly shopping trips, and group fitness classes. Several common areas — including lounges with fireplaces, outdoor patios, a library, and a pub — invite residents to join in conversation with others.

Friendly staff

The staff is friendly and helpful. The apartment is very nice - newly painted and carpeted between each tenant – and the facility is extremely well kept. There could be more daily activities, and RE the food, there could be more choices on the menu.

A place that cares!

My dad was only there for 2 nights and he was in the memory care unit. The room size was perfect for his needs and it was clean. The staff was great with him especially when it came to showering/bathing him. The food seemed fine but he didn't really eat much as he rapidly declined. He also didn't participate in any activities. A Place for Mom was so good to me when I was learning about new living arrangements for my dad.

Fantastic experience with the help from "a place for mom".

They are very attentive to both the patient and the family. We have found nothing negative to say. We are very happy and my mother is setting in nicely. She is on the memory unit there and I must say they keep them very busy with activities all day to keep them engaged.

There is always an ebb and flow to these facilities. Sometimes they are fantastic and other times lacking in general. What stands out most is the personal care my mother gets from staff. I would recommend the Arbors

The staff was wonderful. Unfortunately my dad was only there for 3 days. The rooms were clean and the food looked good. It was close by my families' homes which was a plus.

A Comfortable, Cheerful and Caring Community

The Arbors at Stoneham begins with a talented, welcoming and caring staff, who work tirelessly to make every day a comforting experience for every resident. The relatively new facility offers a home with large, bright common areas, and a range of private living quarters. Its dining room serves three fine meals a day; its daily activities program meets a variety of personal interests; and its proximity to Stoneham Center offers access to dozens of shops and local vendors. In short, The Arbors at Stoneham is a highly desirable assisted living community, deserving of a top rating for the lifestyle it offers.

I rate it a 1 and would not recommend this facility. My dad was there for a month but fell 5 times and was in the hospital more than being at Arbors. When he was there and there was an activity going on, such as rolling a ball to each other across the table. The activity person or aides sat on the sides of the room on their phones. I was ended up having to chase after the ball when it kept falling on the floor. I also had to help a few residents that didn't know what to do with the ball when it came to them. When the nurse came in to help my dad go the bathroom she started calling me to come help her. I said no, I am not helping my father pee. Ridiculous!!! When my dad left that facility I gave the 30 day notice per the contract I signed. I was supposed to receive around [amount removed] back, again per the contract. [name removed] did the walk through with me and said I would receive the check probably in about a week. Instead, they sent me to a collection agency saying I owed them money. I had good communications with the woman at the collection agency. She tried calling Arbors herself to talk to [name removed] or whoever else. Nobody got back to her. She tried on several occasions over a 2-3 week period of time to get in touch with them but got nowhere. She then told me don't pay the bill, I did not owe it. I never received the [amount removed] I was supposed to get back after the 30 day notice. The facility itself is really nice and welcoming. The staff, not so great. Some of the aides were very nice!!!

The Arbors

My father moved in on [date removed]. He fell and was taken to hospital 5 times, with 2 admissions. Still is in rehab. Has barely been at the Arbors since his move in date. Doctors questioned me about his safety at the facility and recommended I take him out. He will not be going back there when discharged from rehab.

A Caring Place

My loved one is currently a resident at The Arbors at Stoneham. Overall, this facility is not a bad place and the staff try their best, they just need more help. The director of the Memory Care unit is nice and listens and corrects where she can. There have been issues with making sure that showers are given and that the bathroom in my loved one's unit is being cleaned and the laundry being done. I do know that the Memory Care unit is short staffed, which directly contributes to this. The staff that they do have are nice and they engage with my loved one. The food could be improved for lunch and dinner. The activities are appropriate and they do get the whole facility together daily. The events that I have been to have been nice. Overall, I know all facilities have some issues. My loved one doesn't always use her help/call button that she has and that is a problem. I would recommend this facility to others.

Our experience at The Arbors

My loved one is a resident at The Arbors at Stoneham. The overall experience has been good. The staff are nice. The housekeeping is good. The meals are okay. Like any apartment, families can come and go during hours. Other families need to know it's not a Nursing Home, it's Assisted Living. Big difference. For my loved one's case, the location is great because it's in my town. I can't rate the Value for Cost as I have nothing to compare to.

They are more than accommodating for my aunt's needs. The staff are friendly, very helpful, and concerned about her well being. I wish she would participate in activities, but they respect her choice. Also the residents themselves are so friendly and nice. You can tell they are well taken care of.

An Overall Positive Experience

We like the place and feel it is the right place for my loved one. There have been a couple of times for the staff took longer to get back to me than I had anticipated. The community was able to walk us through the integration of our loved one into the community. Also, let us know the timeline that it would take for our loved one to adjust to the community. The staff are responsive to my loved one's care needs. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones.

What stuck out to my mother the most about The Arbors was the overall feeling we got when walking it, it was definitely the most homey and comfortable place that we saw and it is a smaller community. She has a 1 bedroom deluxe room so it is plenty big enough for her things. So far things have worked out pretty well and we would recommend them to other families.

We have been very happy with The Arbors. We chose this facility because of the convenient location, I wanted to be able to get to her and see her often. It is also more reasonably priced because they have a roommate option. The activities director that they had was absolutely amazing but she did just leave last week so we have high hopes. It is expensive but to me it is worth every penny. The staff are all very nice and really care for the residents,

We think The Arbors is terrific. You can tell that the staff truly care about their residents. There is not a single person here that is not always happy and in s positive mood. They do seem to have a lot of great activities provided and they do a good job trying to get mom to participate. I would recommend them and already have.
