During my visits, I have witnessed multiple troubling issues: I saw cockroaches in her room. She was left sitting in the dining area in her wheelchair for an extended period of time, crying, not knowing how to get back to her room. She had a gash on her leg that she could not explain. It had not been cleaned or bandaged until I noticed it and raised concern. I was then told there were no nurses on the premises that day to address it. There was feces on her rug, sneaker, and bedsheets that had gone unnoticed. I was told cleaning it was “not their job.” She asked for yogurt after seeing another resident eating it and was told she was not allowed to have one. Her laundry had not been done for over a week, and her clothes smelled. On another visit, her laundry had been cleaned but left sitting on the couch for days, with no one assisting her in putting it away. She did not even realize her clothes were there.

The place lied and said they could handle her. Not only did she fall but they did not tell us. The only way we found out was by my brother in law calling there to see how her first night was. Very sneaky place knew it was to good to be true for her

Rating would depend on required level of care. Attention paid to a good activity roster. Nice staff, good apartments and terrific food. Excellent value. On the down side, mom quickly advanced with age to need a higher level of care. They have no nursing staff and their wellness setup tended toward haphazard. They lost the case manager soon after our arrival and were struggling to fill the spot, which had one person managing over a hundred elderly residents.

A resident was accepted after an initial review, but within a short time the community determined they weren't able to provide the right level of care. This created a stressful situation and the family had to quickly find a more suitable option.

We are unable to comment on the meals and dining, we know nothing about it as our loved one was not there long enough. Reasonable rate- didn't need the amenities that came with the more expensive places

The staff, especially those involved with activities, is exceptional. They make an effort to get the residents involved and build personal relationships with them. It made a world of difference with acclimating to a new environment. I can't speak to the care management because I don't have first hand knowledge of them but everyone I've come across has been friendly and goes over and above to help.

The people working there are over worked and under paid. They aren't happy and it shows in their care. Don't choose The Arbors at Westbury. What amenities? The room size was fine/average. The cockroaches IN the rooms were the issue.

I have no experience with the arbors my mother is there, she tells me she really likes it which makes me very happy. She's participating in events they have going on. She said the food is good and she's making friends so her day is more full than when she was living at home, but I have no first-hand experience. I haven't even seen it as I have been sick in the hospital and in rehab myself. My sister tells me it's a lovely place very clean, friendly and attentive staff, good PT. She really only complained about getting around everywhere in the wheelchair. Apparently the ramp leaving the dining room is steep and someone is needed to push up the ramp to leave dining room which isn't readily available all the time. Other than that she hasn't complained about anything.

They were nice people. I didn't like that my mother stayed in the room way too much. A few times they didn't make sure that my mom's portable oxygen machine was recharged. The place was clean and they just did a remodel of the lobby and great room, which is beautiful. The food was good. [Name removed] was very nice.

The head staff is wonderful. Most of the staff is great.There isnt enough staff for the amount of residents. If you dont stay on top of them, they wont go out of their way for ur loved one.

In general, the experience is okay if you are very involved with your family member's care and advocate for them. The facility is generally clean, but Mom is in a shared room that often smells of urine and feces when dirty diapers are thrown into wastebaskets. The staff is generally friendly. Care is better when family is involved to point out areas in need of immediate attention such as not checking if diaper is soiled or making sure dentures have had Fixodent put in. The day staff is fine, night staff is less reliable. The activities are good and varied. As for the value for cost, we're very disappointed in the huge increase of 7% after one year. It will not be sustainable long-term for us.

My dad has been at The Arbors in Westbury for almost three years now. We have been so happy with our choice, as we were initially hesitant at putting him in assisted living. The staff is incredibly compassionate and caring. The social worker [name removed] and the wellness staff are always available to answer questions or concerns we have.. We know we made the right choice, and our mind is at ease knowing he in such a great place. I highly recommend The Arbors if a parent or loved one is entering this stage of life.

When I visited The Arbors Westbury, I walked into a great homey feeling at this intimate community. The activities room had residents playing Balloon volleyball in their chairs with a big balloon and smiles were on their faces so that made me feel great. The dining room had a variety of food on the menu and all meals are served by a waitress/waiter. The community was recently renovated so everything was clean and fresh. It was updated with a farmhouse decor making a cozy feeling. This was the best community that I toured in my search for mom.

It was the best decision my family and I made to place our mother at The Arbors Westbury! They have been a true extended supportive and caring family to mom. The staff goes over and above to make her feel loved and cared for and that gives us as a family peace of mind that she is in the best place. She is now meeting new people, socializing more and getting involved with activities that are offered daily. Mom tells us the food is always so good and asks for seconds often. Thank you The Arbors at Westbury for all you do! You truly are the Best!

I came to tour and knew nothing about assisted living. it was not what I expected. I would move in. In my mind I thought that it would be dark and medical like. This community is bright and lively. Everyone answered my questions and really helped me with my decision. The Executive Director and sales team took time to explain the differences between the other communities and theirs.

This building had so much gone on when I visited. The residents were going on a bus trip, there were people throughout the building. Other places I have visited did not have anyone around. The building felt very alive.
