I do feel like it needs a refresh in their decor. The staff is friendly which is nice. The marketing director is very nice ([name removed] ). The residents seemed well cared for. The price is a little high.

Overall pleased

The positive: It has been nice to see the welcoming nature of their community. The negative: It sometimes is hard to get ahold of someone for answers for questions we sometimes have, but my Mom's situation is a little different so I try to not hold it against anyone. They're doing a decent job.

Our family's experience

We had some problems with laundry getting done. The food is good. I've had some snacks up there, it was yummy. The staff is all very nice. A lot of them, English is their second language, so its a bit tough to talk with them sometimes.

friendly staff and personal attention

We think the staff is great. They really know our mom. It takes a special type of person to work at a facility like this and we are very happy with the time they spend with her And we have seen the staff take care of other residents with lots of caring. our Mom does not participate in many activities at 96 but we have been there while lots of activities are taking place and many residents are participating. It's clean and her personal room is clean and neat as well. Nurses are super.

Family's experience

The staff is attentive and very professional, from staff to nurses aids. My dad is very happy there. I would recommend them to others who are searching for care for their loved one. One reason we chose the Atrium is because there is no hallways. All rooms lead out to a common area, making it easier to mingle and socialize.

Great CNAs, but poor management, and discriminatory nursing policies

It's a nice place with decent "apartments" and the CNAs are very hard-working and pleasant people. I would recommend to others.

I was professionally and enthusiastically greeted by the receptionist. Overall the facility was clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and appear to genuinely love their jobs the residents, and I connected easily with the staff I encountered. I am just starting my journey of researching facilities so I don't have a comparison of the value for cost, however, this facility is in line with my thoughts and what I do know about the cost for memory care facilities. I was impressed with the studio apartment and private bathrooms in the units, although was a little concerned with the size of the studio, and wonder what it would feel like with furniture. Overall I definitely give this facility a 5-star.

Home is not always the best place, especially if you're alone most of the time

I Iike the layout of the facility and the fact that its one level. The staff is pleasant, caring, and well qualified. Mom did not want to leave her home but she is thriving there.

Beautiful location'

I liked the outdoor view and scenery, and it was in a good location for us to be able to visit often. Its a lovely place. Its a bit tough with a lot of the employees not speaking great English, but I understand that's common in this industry. They are great with all the different activities they do and mini field trips they do.

Our family's solution

Overall, we are very pleased with the care and attention our mother (mom-in-law) is getting at Atrium. We had a glitch on day one and I must say, the staff was super helpful. The staff is very responsive whenever we have a question or concern. There is always someone on admin and nursing staff to help and they seem to have spent time really getting to know her and work on her specific needs. I can't rate the food at the highest level because we can only go by what she has said--she used to mention the food was excellent at her old assisted living facility and now she just says okay about the Atrium. So I'm not sure if that's an accurate rating for food. Obviously, the question of value for money is a difficult one. Everything is so expensive. We can only compare it to our experience at her former facility and we feel she gets so much more care and personal attention here that it's well worth it.

Review for The Atrium at Faxon Woods

Atrium feels very homey as opposed to institutional. The administration is friendly and responsive. The meals are well prepared with a good variety. Lunch is usually a larger meal with a lighter dinner. Activities are available morning and afternoon and the staff makes an effort to get the residents to participate.

Mom is happy

It is a very friendly, caring residence and the residents all get along with each other. The staff knows everyone by name even the family members. They make a point to remember people and guests. They have entertainment weekly (guitar players, singers, piano players, dancers, and memory games). There is always music playing in the common area and the residents love it. They have bus rides twice a week for those who want to go. They take short trips to the beach and other scenic places and stop at DD for refreshments. The residents can walk around the residence if able and go back and forth to their rooms if not interested in the activities. In warm months they sit out back in the patio area for fresh air, entertainment and snacks. I love the place for my mom and she said she's happy there.

Happy with the Atrium

Great Facility for my Father

I felt like everyone genuinely cared about my father's well being, from the receptionists to the aides to the managers and especially the nurses. Very helpful in getting him settled in. They tried to get him engaged in the community, made sure I was aware of what was going on, good and bad. Highly recommend if you have a loved one with dementia.
