Overall pleased

The turnover rate has been bad in my 1 1/4 year exposure. They're On third top administrator. On fourth top nurse in same timeframe. Nurses come and go and I've stopped bothering to learn names. They're all pretty good. Programming staff has turned over a few times. I'm imagining the pay sucks and top management doesn't engender great family feeling. The programming is pretty good nearly all the time. I registered my my turnover complaint in writing to boss. No response. The food is above average. fees have gone up twice even though their greeting message says 'same rate for the length of your stay.' It's outrageously expensive and I worry

About the facility

The Greens at Greenwich is an intimate memory care home in a quiet and lush area of Greenwich, Connecticut. With a maximum of 30 residents, The Greens is kept intentionally small so that each resident can receive the attention and care that they deserve. Management Has Changed

Management at The Greens at Greenwich has changed recently, and our family experienced major problems after that change. We moved our mom out of their care as soon as we could. For the amount families pay, the level of care is unacceptable. Providers were unavailable for extended periods, medical oversight felt inadequate, and there was a disturbing lack of compassion and understanding of how people with dementia should actually be treated. Rather than redirecting and supporting my mother, staff frequently corrected her. As her dementia progressed, she became increasingly shut down, and we felt there was very little concern for what was happening to her emotionally or physically. The facility was unable to manage the beginning of my mother’s incontinence. She was left alone and confused during the day. Her belongings and bathroom repeatedly smelled of old urine. This was not a one-time accident. It became part of her living environment even after we repeatedly raised concerns.

Well staffed

Plenty of staff. All are very attentive. Several choices of rooms sizes and price range. Place is small. No part of the building is really remote. Again, very expensive.

Peace of Mind

The overall experience has been wonderful. Finding a safe place for our loved one was so overwhelming. [name removed] from The Greens at Greenwich was so helpful and supportive for with our family. Not just our loved one who was being placed. It was the 1st place the residents AND all the staff were happy. It is much smaller than many of the facilities visited. Many of the direct care providers have been with The Greens at Greenwich for many years. They genuinely care about the residents. Our family is extremely pleased with the care our loved one receives at the Greens at Greenwich. Our loved one is always well kempt. She is kept active throughout the day. The meals look and smell delicious. There are so many activities available. Music, chair yoga, trips to museums, painting and opportunities to interact with peers and staff. It is more expensive than other facilities, but knowing our loved one is safe, and receiving appropriate dementia care puts our minds at ease. She is mentally engaged. Keeping patients with dementia appropriate mental and physically active has been shown to slow the progression of the disease. Our loved one is happy, well cared for and most importantly safe at the Greens at Greenwich.

Great place. Potential extra costs.

My loved one with advanced dementia has been at The Greens for several months now. Overall it's a nice place. The staff are good and friendly people. When I researched care places, no one ever mentioned that some residents have full time aides contracted from an outside agency. My loved one had a fall after moving in, and The Greens recommended we hire a full time aide. So we are paying tens of thousands per month, on top of what we pay The Greens, which is frustrating. And currently out of 30 total residents, I understand that about 10 have full time aides. That's something I wish I had known about when looking for care. The Greens itself ahs been very good, but the added cost of having to have a full time aide has been considerable.

Very nice place!

Overall our experience with The Greens at Greenwich has been a positive one! It's a nice looking place, and the people have all been very friendly. I like that it is a smaller community, because the residents get a lot more individual attention. Really the only downside has been that the dining experience isn't quite as fancy as the larger community she was at before, but the food is still very good!

Dignified, quality care facility for a parent with Dementia.

I cannot say enough good things about the Greens at Greenwich. We had placed my Mom at another facility 4 years ago which was geared towards independent living which is what she needed at that time. However, as her condition worsened, and as she needed more attention and assistance that facility could no longer address those needs adequately. I searched on Senior Advisor and read the qualifications and programs offered at the Greens and felt that they could care for my Mom and offer her the quality of life and care that she needed at this time. The Greens offer wonderful programs and try to cater to the individual needs of their residents. The atmosphere is always upbeat and cheery. The staff are well versed in how to properly care for individuals with Dementia. I have been there at all different times of the day to visit, and my mother is always involved in one activity or another and I cannot say how much this gives her family peace of mind. Senior Advisor initially spoke to me to get an idea of what I was looking for, asking me why we were thinking about the move. We made an appointment for a visit and the Director sat with me toured the facility and I could see how different this facility was from the facility my mom was in. The former facility was run well enough but did not offer a plan B when her condition needed it (other than doubling the rates and increasing medication). I will add that if a family needs a facility for a relative with Dementia that lives up to to their "advertisement," this is the place! They offer different room types, medical staff, beautiful grounds and incredible staff!!!

My experience with Senior Advisor. GREAT!

My 91 one year old mother was a resident of Brighton Gardens, Stamford CT a Sunrise community when one day in December 2015 I happened to click on a Senior Advisor ad on the internet. One of the luckiest "clicks" I ever made.! While my mother was well cared for at Brighton Gardens my family and I felt that there was no stimulation, or real programs for the residents. The staff, while they were very caring were not trained properly to deal with dementia and Alzheimer disease. Our family was not 100% happy with Sunrise but did not think there was another choice. After clicking on the Senior Advisor ad I entered my name and contact information and stated that I was interested in a facility located in Greenwich CT called the Greens. Within an hour of entering my info I was contacted by an advisor who asked me what I was looking for and for whom. I explained our situation with my Mom and that I was interested in the Greens. We made an appointment to tour the Greens. The next day the Director of the Greens called me regarding the tour of the facility and we discussed what I was looking for . To make a long story short after seeing the Greens and the programs available I was so excited to have my mother in that environment. Within one month a room became available and arrangements were made to move my Mom to this facility. She has been there a little over 3 weeks and her entire demeanor has changed. She participates in daily exercise, music and art programs, and is just so happy. The level of care and interest all of the staff have is day and night difference to what she had before, It was a difficult decision to move our mother into a facility and we thought that our first choice was a good one. As soon as my mothers mental capacity changed this place was not the right facility . The Greens has afforded myself and the family peace of mind that she is safe and content. We are so happy with the decision and with Senior Advisor. I only wish we knew of this valuable resource when we moved my mom in 2012.
