My indepth discussion with the Valeo Director explored Calveria's capacity to accommodate a potentially "difficult" resident who suffered with extreme delusions, including paranoia, which resulted in my satisfaction and approval. Such discussions and observations leads me to conclude that Calveria has developed and operates a high quality program of memory care that meritoriously meets the varied individual needs of its residents.

Clean and very well aligned as far as the rooms . The premium studio room was absolutely perfect. Parking area was very convenient to the building. Location was very good as far as being close to major metro areas.

They have always been very receptive and tried to remedy any issues I might be having. The activity director is above and beyond and has made it such an enjoyable experience. My mother loves it there so much!

I would recommend this facility to others. I think the price point is a little high. It's a small facility, so the call response time is quicker for care. The studio apartments are a nice size and the kitchen section is a wonderful thought. The care staff often go around and remind residents to go to activities, which is very helpful.

It was the best of the ones I looked at in the area I needed it to be and reportedly didn't have poor reviews. However, I do not recommend it. It is very reasonably priced but it is not well staffed and staff not supervised on off shifts. They have a mix of staff - some quite good, others were rude and not kind to residents. It is very sparsely furnished and there was a lack of activities for residents that I could see. This was memory care so different from assisted living.

The apartment was larger than most other places. The number of residents was a good size, not too small and not too big. Cost wasn't outrageous (relatively speaking). Reviews good and staff friendly. Overall, best choice. I would absolutely recommend to other families.

I would not recommend the Memory Unit at The Retreat for your loved one. I recently completed an eight-month continuing bad experience for my mother. Their staff is not trained properly nor do they care. They are not honest when something goes wrong. They do not do what they say they will. Nothing changes after continued issues with promises made to do better. My mother deserved so much better. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

My tour at The Retreat at Berryville was all but 15 minutes long, it was not very thorough. I am not sure if it wasn't the person who normally does the tours or what. Other tours I took I was there at least an hour and a half. The facility was very nice, new and modern. I just did not got the warm and fuzzy feeling that I was looking for.

The staff are very caring, and they are in constant communication with me. It's a great place. My mom has a lot of health issues and memory issues, and they are just wonderful with her.

The staff members so far have been very attentive to any suggestions and feedback we give to them, and the care given to our loved one is excellent. The cleanliness has improved and they do have a lot of activities for the residents to participate in. Our loved one is on the memory care side and we aren't to sure all of what is being offered because she does not participate but we do know she likes the arts and crafts.

They were doing movie nights for the residents and devotion which our loved one enjoyed doing. So far they have not complained about the meals they serve, and when it comes to the value this is was the best place we had found in the area.

I would recommend The Retreat at Berryville. It is a good place for your loved one. The management staff is very attentive. The food is enjoyed by my loved one. The community has bingo, painting classes, weekly art classes, and more activities to choose from.

The community and bathrooms are always clean when we go to visit my mother-in-law. The staff communicates very well with the family members and are very patient with the families that I have seen. The staff is very good about staying on top of my mother-in-law's care and are very patient with her in particular. We do think they could do better with the laundry.

We placed my dad in the memory care and it was not a good fit. He was just in the early stages of memory care. He then went into the hospital. When he returned from the hospital he had to be isolated. When I went to visit him, he was yelling for help. When we went into the room he was crawling on the floor trying to get to the door. He had been yelling for help, the staff did not immediately get him off the floor. I do not know how long he was on the floor yelling for help. My dad had significant issues. He needed a lot of help but they told me they could handle that level of care. I do not feel they could manage that level of care. He went back to the hospital and he never returned to The Retreat. They did charge us for holding the room and never checked back with us at all. They never let us know that the fees were accruing and just sent us a bill. We did not get any of the $3000 community fee back. He was there 3 nights.
