We are looking for rehab for our sister who was stricken with a stroke. So the occupational therapy and physical therapy capability of the facilities are critical to us. So far they have been impressive.

Our Experience at Village of Meyerland

**????? — 2 stars** My mother lived at The Village of Meyerland for a few weeks before she died. Some of the people there were very good to her, and I'll name them. But the operation around those people failed her, and families touring this community deserve to hear how. On that last Sunday I spent the entire day with my mother. She was herself — talking, engaged, good company. I came back Tuesday evening for dinner and found her at the dining table having obviously suffered a stroke. It was apparent to me within seconds. When I said she didn't look right, the waitress told me she was "just getting used to her new surroundings," and that "she was like that yesterday, too." At the hospital that night, the physician told us the stroke had occurred more than five hours earlier. The following day the nursing staff gave a different account — that she had been fine Monday and fine Tuesday morning. I can't reconcile those two versions, and I won't pretend to know which is accurate.

While the facility is great and the cadre of services offered is above average, execution is much left to be desired. Response by staff to concerns and issues is very slow.

Staff seems pleasant though spread a bit thinly, response times when called varies a lot from day to day or time of day. Food and dining experience seems as expected- good but not great. Apartment size is better than expected but also costs more than several I toured at other places. Overall place is lovely and cheerful with good amenities. Still satisfied with the choice we made.

It's been ok. A lot of turnover in staff it seems. Not familiar with other faculties so I would guess it's similar to others. I'm neutral toward a recommendation. It appears they did not raise pricing for next year so that's a plus

Life Worth Living

My Mother is 95 years old and had been living in a memory care facility out os Texas. Village of Meyerland offered a smaller 28 unit, personal environment that we felt would be a real improvement over the current situation Mother was at currently. Village of Meyerland has exceeded our expectations in every way. There is a feeling of community that is hard to describe. People live there, not exist there. I sincerely thank the staff for their outstanding care, and the management for always being available to answer my questions and needs.

I recently inquired about The Village of Meyerland for my parents and had the pleasure of working with [name removed]. She was incredibly patient and professional throughout the entire process. [name removed] provided us with a wealth of helpful information making us feel informed and comfortable with our options. Her attentiveness and genuine care made a diference, and we are grateful for her guidance. Highly recommend her for anyone needing knowledgeable and compassionate assistance!

Home Sweet Home

My loved ones has thrived since coming to this community. I'm relieved to see the positive impact of having such a caring & attentiveness group. My own well-being has benifited greatly too! Its also a true joy to be a guest and enjoy the great atmosphere a d meals. This community has easy access to the highways and a close proximity to many top notch hospitals. We are very glad we made this choice.

This Staff at this place top teir.

First of all let me just say well done to all the recruiters at this place. The staff here is so amazing. They make the residents feel like family. So for this I truly thank you. I’ve heard wonderful things about your chef [name removed], from my aunt, so I’m glad I got the chance to meet her. Looks like all the Residents love her and the great job she’s doing at the site. Can’t wait to hear about what you guys have in-store for the residents next.

Overall would recommend

Meals are paid for regardless if a resident eats a a meal at the facility. Would be more cost effective for residents to only be charged for the meals that are eaten. Communication can be lacking. Several times we have left voice messages and texts for the head nurse but have not received timely responses.

Review for The Village of Meyerland

I would say the memory care staff was the best of the best. Always kind and good to communicate. They worked very well with Hospice when it was time to bring them in. The facility is in a great location. The management changes like the wind and the transition is painful with little communication. I hear it's the same for most assisted living communities. I would recommend this facility for the floor staff alone. They were awesome!

Our Experience

Staff is very friendly and knows everyone's name. Housekeeping is okay-once my mom figured out their schedule she was fine. Sometimes they don't bring her laundry back on schedule, but once she asks they take care of it quickly. Communication about programming and events is very good. They use the LifeLoop website/app. Communication on the nursing/care side could be better. If I have a question or concern I don't always get a response the same day. But then they take care of it quickly. The move in process did not go as smoothly as expected. But after a few hiccups, things are good. I can text the director and she will take care of it. According to my mom, the meals are not great and they run out of certain things sometimes. But she is not a reliable historian and is a picky eater. Besides all this, my mom is much happier than I thought she would be. The activities director hooked her up with a few ladies within her first week there and now the 4 of them are inseparable.

Positives and negatives, but overall pleased.

There seems to be a high turnover of staff. I don't think she ever saw the physician who serves at the facility. Not even at the beginning. She was not allowed to take her supplements because it wasn't on the Rx list, but no one helped get them on the list. She never had a working microwave the whole time, even though we asked several times. I came to visit and her bathroom sink was clogged. The staff was always very friendly, remembered her name and remembered some of her preferences like apple juice at her meals. Also, the layouts of the rooms are really good. My mom didn't really take advantage of activities and I wish they had encouraged her to more.

Review for The Village of Meyerland

Nice place. Change of managers here was not handled well. It's been a bumpy ride for weeks now. I'm sure things will settle down soon. We picked this community because of the location, cost, friendly folks, and homie feel.
