I loved this little community! This felt more like a family than a business. The manager was very kind and obviously genuinely loved the residents. The staff are able to really get to know each resident. I liked that they are open to alternative methods. For example, the music that was helping an Alzheimer patient. I had vision for how our family could be intimately involved in the community! Grandma would have a room right off the common area, so would always be in the middle of the action.

Mom is happy here

Mom is adjusting well here the staff is great and very accommodating to mom and me. There aren't alot of residents here so they get a lot of 1 on 1 time. They try to engage her to join in the daily activities. It is always clean and kept up. They get 3 great home cooked meals a day. There is a patio that is clean, safe, and comfortable. I would recommend this community.

Mom is delighted

They have the most excellent ratio to residents. Mom enjoys it here and is delighted with everything. She enjoys the food and joins in on the daily activities, like crafts they just made a Thanksgiving bracelet that was very nice each little part told a story. The staff is very caring and attentive. It is always clean in there and the grounds are nice too. I would recommend this community.

Family friendly facility

My father (94) has been a resident of Honey’s House for 13 months. I am a registered nurse and I finally sleep well at night after moving him there from other facilities here and in North Carolina. He is well taken care of, staffing ratio is good , they are a part of my family now! It is a small facility that provides him with a good quality of life despite his blindness and inability to provide anyof his own hygiene needs. If there is an opening I highly recommend Honeys

Mom love's it here

We are glad we chose this community the caregivers here are friendly and helpful. The staff has called to make sure we were happy too. She enjoys the tasty food here. They have some activities she enjoys to like the arts and crafts. The community stays clean and smell free. They have a porch are with rocking chairs that she likes to socialize. I would recommend this to my friends and family. She is Happy.

I had three places to tour on my list that morning. However, the minute I walked in, I just knew this was THE place I was looking for for my beloved. All my expectations were met and then some . . . from the helpful guidance of the administration to the friendliness of the staff. Needless to say, I didn't tour the other two that day. I am very pleased with my decision.

Friendly and engaging staff, facility was clean and bright. Open kitchen next to the gathering area made a great impression and gave it a warm feeling. Although they had no openings I was able to place my Mom in their sister facility (The Cottages on Danny Kaye). Private rooms were nice size, layout of the facility very simple and efficient for movement of residents and staff.

My Mother Is Doing Very Well

They are taking good care of my mother here at this facility. I know she is safe and good hands. It is a very nice home, they do a very good job with keeping everything nice and clean. They have a wonderful staff here. They offer activities, my mother has tired a few. The food is excellent, but they are working on trying to accommodate diabetic diets better. This is a home I would recommend.

I really liked Honey's House of Helotes, but it was a bit too pricey. The tour guide was friendly and helpful she was able to answer any questions. It was a good experience to tour but it was proved out of our budget.

Review for The Cottages on Danny Kaye

Cottages is a great place for relatively sedentary residents. The staff are kind & caring, the food seems well planned & tasty, the rooms are nicely sized & well maintained, there are activities available and a lovely garden & courtyard, and residents seem happy. However, there are no gym facilities or equipment available for more active residents, and there is no offsite transportation available so no outings or getting to offsite care provided.

Positive experience, would recommend.

They are patient & attentive. It is a small community so the staff to patient ratios are low. The Director is a Saint! Extremely helpful & responsive. Great at working with family.

Nice, but a little slow on requests

Family requests for personalizing guest's rooms seem to take longer than expected. I would recommend The Cottages on Danny Kaye to others.

Overall Good Experience and Staffing, Recommend

Good overall, Staff, care, cleanliness, room size and amenities are all great. Activities are fair, and the biggest issue is food. Because it's a small facility there's not much choice regarding food and oftentimes it's not a complete healthy meal with vegetables and fruits. My mom comments it is too much fried foods, and not fresh foods.

Overall Very Nice Community

Staff is excellent, plenty of people, low turnover, and just very nice. Facilities are nice and clean, well kept. The activities are good but not a lot of variety and no off campus activities. Biggest negative for my mom has been the dining experience, not much variety offered daily and not as healthy as she prefers (example no fried food, more fruits n veggies etc). A bigger facility would likely offer more variety and options for dining.

Exactly what we needed. Highly recommend.

Location was the first factor in our decision. Considering convenience for family members to visit our loved one. Of course we ensured proper care, cleanliness and respectful care from staff. The facility was exactly what we needed at the time. They made a difficult time a little easier. The care was generally good. Staff was good and caring. Our loved one kept getting out of bed and falling. Then was unable to get help. Was frustrating to the family. We understand about respecting patient rights of course, But he was not in a mental state to understand his limitations.

Happy Overall

We were happy with The Cottages. It suited what we needed it to be. There were a few problems, probably caused my our family member. But I think they could have been handled better. But overall the staff was good and very caring.

The Cottages are a Fine Place

I would tell others that my ratings are based on my short experience. We are very happy with the community. I think this is a learning process as we go through the next few months. I'm happy with the choice for my loved one.

Short stay

The care staff was very caring and the food was excellent. But they assured me that they could care for dementia patients and it turned out that they were not a locked facility. However, it was due to their very competent care that they checked on him during the night, didn’t think he looked right, and called an ambulance. He turned out to be septics and needed an emergency bowel resection. He never had any pain. So they saved his life.

MOM wants to go home!

My mother is currently in this facility, and I am extremely concerned about the lack of transparency and the way communication is handled. I have been denied visitation based on information that is not true, and I have not been given any clear or legitimate reason for being kept away from her. As a result, my mother has gone long periods without any family contact, and no one is able to see her or verify her condition. The staff communication is dismissive and inconsistent, and attempts to advocate for my mother are met with attitude instead of professionalism. My mother deserves compassion, respect, and regular contact with her family. No facility should block a daughter from seeing her own mother without valid cause. Families deserve honesty and access, not barriers and misinformation.
