The hardest part was keeping track of all the places I went and what they offered. It was also difficult to have many people calling me from A Place for Mom. At all the places people were kind. My parents finally chose Brookdale Chatfield. The staff are amazing. They had someone assigned to them when they arrived to help with the move after they moved in. This helped with getting rid of boxes and hanging pictures plus helping to acclimate to a new way of living. The place is clean and residents are happy Chatfield tried to do all they could to help them feel at home. I would say that my parents have complained that food isn't as good as it used to be when they first arrived. They also miss [name removed] who was let go as positions were rearranged and hers was cut. Other than that, Chatfield has been a great place for them and I really appreciated all the help from A Place for Mom who help to set everything up for me to visit and help to make sure my parents made the best choice for them.

My sister is confined to a wheelchair & has Parkinson's. She is totally dependent on staff to take care of her I have been in the company of the staff & her team, they are wonderful & very kind. I almost didn't recognize her, they put her hair up in a ponytail & she looked wonderful. They are very considerate of her, take excellent care, always clean, dressed every day & they feed her, at the pace she can handle. Our family can now rest assured, she is in good hands. Her apartment is always clean & sheets changed often, & the room is not crowded, roomy for her needs & visitors. We are grateful to the staff, they go above & beyond for her, & friendly to us. They keep in touch & let us know if there are any changes to her health.

Nurse [Name removed] was an angel on earth. She has treated my father with respect and has cared for him well during his time there. My only issue was with his frequent falls. At one time, because of a fall, he fractured his ankle. The food was institutional style and the choices were poor. My father passed there[ Date Removed] He was under the care of Hospice

We felt very sure and comfortable that mom was being taken care of kindly and properly. We were informed of everything that was happening with mom immediately. The staff is knowledgeable and kind. They recognized all that was happening with mom. When we needed Hospice, it was started within hours. Excellent service and a reasonable price.

The food is horrible. The residents often make fun and joke about how bad it is The activities are very limited, not at all what we were sold on when we chose Brookdale. The facilities are a challenge, in the apartment there was no A/C working when we moved in (July) and it took weeks to get it working. In the winter the heat did not work for the entire winter. Needed to use space heaters.

The aids are very responsive and caring, which is sooo appreciated. My parents rarely complain but we keep hearing about how bad the food is. They loved the food at [community removed], and the activities director there frequently visited residents and encouraged participation. Also, better communication regarding caregiver shifts, and rules of engagement. Like, how do we ensure changes in care get communicated to all aids? My parents like to know who is providing care each day, when their shift ends and who replaces them, etc... But overall Brookdale Chatfield does a good job.

I would not tell anyone not to put their relative in there. Assisted Living seems to be nice, active, etc. Memory Care and Alzheimer's is a hard disease to work with. The aids do the best they can and are very friendly.

I rate Brookdale Chatford a 5 for all categories stated. The staff, the facility, the programs, all quite professional. The environment felt like home, staff made bit feel like family. The staff has been great, especially the engineering/ maintenance staff. The guys are very friendly and really want to help. The food seems to need a major overhaul. The residents are complaining and the menu meetings don't seem to help. We were told when we were looking at the community that there were many activities which doesn't seem to he the case. Need some more diverse things to choose from.

The activities are great, some areas could be cleaner (bistro), the grounds are nice as are the workers. The admin office is not good. Very disorganized. Don't know who is doing what or who you should call. They do not give you a list of names and contacts. This was especially bad when Mom transitioned to AL from IL. And, they don't prepare you for the move or keep you in the loop. The the billing isn't good. Ex: Companion services are a la carte. The bill will say $[removed]. It doesn't list each day the services was used. Just like meals. It costs x per meal insane they bulk bill. It's very hard to reconcile. They do not itemized costs.

Everyone is very nice and, in general, responsive. The aides are lovely, and that is a big plus. The nurses are also kind. Communication with the family is adequate and I would recommend the facility. For improvement - the food is not good, and my folks are not picky - they loved the food at their previous facility. Some suggestions for improvement - say what you do and do what you say. Things were promised that were not done. Grab bars were not installed, and a month later we are still waiting for one more to be installed. We requested daily showers for my Dad, and we were not told this would be a problem and it is. We were told the aides could do my Dad's catheter, and they were not trained. We were told the care plan would be adjusted after 30 days and this still has not happened or been communicated to the family. Most issues have been rectified, and the staff is responsive. Schedules and procedures were not communicated well (e.g. when does housekeeping come? When is laundry done? A laundry basket on wheels is required but we weren't informed until after they moved in) - so, maybe a welcome letter that explains this could be provided the day they move in. And they could bring in performers for activities instead of just showing movies. The sales manager kept in constant touch before we moved in, but once the contract was signed we heard nothing. The procedure to use to engage maintenance was not communicated. The staff is truly caring and that is comforting. I do believe that they genuinely care and overall, this facility is above average. If they they tweaked a few things, they could easily be a five star rated facility across the board.
