So far for Brookdale Kenwood, I would rate as 5 stars. The whole staff seems really nice, and there are plenty of aides. The activities director is very personable with everyone, and everyone who works there, front desk, kitchen staff, and office managers really seem to care about the residence and their families. Her room is an efficiency and very small, but it's perfect for what she needs. It is very clean, big windows with lots of light, and facility is very nicely decorated. They offer lots of activities and really try to get everyone involved. She likes the food about 75% of the time, she seems to be getting very picky though.

[name removed] walked out, food is not very good, short on third shift staff yet I know this is one of the better places. Nurses and Lpns are wonderful. Activity director is good. Maintenance is good. Housekeeping could be more frequent.

The staff are very friendly and caring. The main part of the facility is usually clean and looks nice; however, the laundry is not done in a timely manner, and the rooms often aren’t cleaned promptly either—sometimes not until you ask someone to do it. Everyone complains about the food, as it is often not good, served cold, and lacking condiments. One thing I didn’t realize when my sister moved into Assisted Living is that most of the residents are in the memory care area. There aren’t many people out and about or socializing, so my sister is pretty lonely.

The administrative staff leaves a lot to be desired here at Brookdale. People seem to be leaving. The existing staff is very friendly and accommodating but the management is not doing its job. Sometimes your laundry gets done and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes they run short on food. The food itself is not good and I hear all the residents complaining about it. My sister takes a lot of meds and there have been times like this past week there was not a nurse there to administer the meds and she did not get her round of night medications which is dangerous for her. The facility of itself is clean and nice. I didn't mean to give that thumbs up as it shows above. As things it's this now I couldn't recommend it to anyone I know. As I said the step is very good in accommodating but that's my only positive at this time

Our experience at Brookdale Kenwood started well. Good care, nice facility, good food. But more people moved in without adjusting staffing. More demands made on caregivers, kitchen staff. Quality of life for residents has fallen significantly. Three things from the last hour summarize current conditions. 1. After 45 minutes waiting for lunch in the dining room, I took my mom upstairs and heated up a can of soup. 2. I learned the Executive Director quit. Sent in her resignation letter and walked out the door. 3. Another new resident was moving in. Brookdale Kenwood has serious problems that need to be addressed. Stop bringing in new people until you get your house in order.

We had high hopes when we first moved into Brookdale last spring. The care was excellent. The chef very good, providing meals in a small dining area. We soon learned that the facility had recently been remodeled. More people moved in. Staffing levels did not change. Still more people moved in. Key staff left and they have had difficulty hiring and retaining staff. The admin staff try but are struggling, As of today: The nursing staff is often overloaded making it difficult to meet the needs of individual residents. The dining room is a disaster, with all levels of staff, including the executive director and other admins, helping cook and serve. There are often not enough aides to care for the people in residence. Turnover is still high. Quality of care can be spotty. Main issue? They are continuing to recruit new residents. I would guess the need to fill rooms is coming from corporate offices. But they need to get the house in order before bringing in more people.

Communication with the family about things which happen w/ the patient and are not the norm. Staff follow through on the established care plan can be hit or miss. The billing charges are simply wacky. Housekeeping could be improved all over the facility. The staff is FANTASTIC!

What we really like about Brookdale Kenwood is the staff, everyone was extremely sweet, proactive and accommodating. The facility was very nice. The location was great. Her room size was sufficient. Based on our experience we would recommend this community to other families. The reason the value for cost gets 4/5 stars is because it is a bit pricey.

During our loved ones stay at Brookdale Kenwood we thought everything was very personable, very caring, the staff members are always very supportive. They always answered our questions and were very complaint when we needed them to give aide and assistance to our loved one. However when our loved one passed there was a big lack of communication when it came to payments, and a big misunderstanding. The issue was fixed after coming to an agreement but make sure to pay attention to the money aspect - we found it to be unprofessional

I toured this community and it was excellent. Very clean and staff was very friendly. I noticed the interaction between the staff and residents, it was very good. Very genuine. If they could have provided the level of care my loved one needs, he would be here. The tour was great, my guide took her time with me and answered all of my questions. I highly recommend them!

We almost did. The tour was informative. It showed us that they were less than truthful. I was looking for a place for both my parents, and they had told us that they would be able to accommodate my dad's cigar smoking. The director told us that initially, and then when we came back a second time and sat with nursing and 5-6 different staff members, they told us the same thing - no problem. Then they sent us the paperwork for my mom, 88 pages total because 56 of them were the same page printed. The smoking section clearly stated no smoking. When I called them about it, they said they can’t allow smoking in the facility. And because they were not upfront with us, we cancelled our commitment to them.
