In all that time I witnessed not a single other staff member pass by.\nOur visit was in the downstairs area where I could see if anyone who passed by. My mother was very uncomfortable both physically and mentally and I saw no one at all. It was during the week and the front desk was vacant the entire time we were there.\nThe residents that reside here deserve more than that. They don't want to be there in the first place. Then to wait so long to have help strips them further of their dignity. Our elderly deserve more during their last days when they can no longer be cared for in their homes.\nI am a retired nurse who worked in such a facility. The work is hard, the pay is meager and the staff turnover is very high. Not many people want to work somewhere that pays little more than minimum wage and is chronically understaffed. Unfortunately it is the administration at a much higher level that makes the decisions. I'm certain that if they had a parent in an assistant living facility they would expect greater care for them. The decision makers never step a foot inside one it appears.
