Our experience

my mom tells me the meat is very tough. We love the friendly staff! We also love that there are staff and residents visible to everyone to interact with. My mom really enjoys the table and chairs outside in Front - she sits out there daily. The only issue we have had is with medications and communication with the nursing manager. But then we found out he was no longer employed there. We have had no issue communicating with the person who took over his job.

My tour of this facility was a very pleasant experience. The independent living units appear to be roomy and welcoming; I was especially pleased to see that they each were equipped with small washers and dryers. The reason that I marked 4 stars rather than 5 for "condition of the building" is that there was a pervasive paint odor; perhaps more ventilation needs to be done. I would like to make another visit to see if this is a persistent problem.

You won’t be disappointed

Both of my parents moved to Palos Senior Living in 2021. Dad was 90 and somewhat less social than Mom at 89. Their independent living apartment was clean, comfortable and plenty spacious for the 2 of them. . Mom took advantage and thoroughly enjoyed every activity offered while Dad was content to work a puzzle, often with other residents, in one of the common areas on their floor. I honestly never heard a complaint about the food or dining service and they would comment that if the featured entree wasn’t their favorite, there were plenty of alternatives. We as a family could tell how pleased they were with their decision to move there. I personally can’t say enough about the caring staff and the constant professionalism they showed every day!!

If you choose Palos Heights, you will never have to worry about your loved one

The entire community was very clean, and the memory care area never had any unpleasant odors, which was very reassuring. The staff was attentive, and the nurses were consistently available when needed. The food selection in memory care was good overall, though meal delivery times could be more consistent. Dinner was often served quite early (around 4:00 PM), which may not suit everyone’s preference. Activities in memory care were decent, and the assisted living side offered especially nice and engaging activities. Cost-wise, the base rent is reasonable. However, families should be aware of additional charges — particularly the fee for medication administration, which is charged per pill. Those add-on costs can add up, so it’s important to understand the full pricing structure upfront. One of the strongest positives was communication. The staff did a good job keeping families informed about their loved one’s actions and progress. Overall, if you choose Palos, you can feel confident that your loved one will receive good care.

Many thanks

This past holiday with my family turned out to be one of the best ones I’ve had…with the help of Palos Heights Senior Living. We had an activity for the residents where a picture of our hands was taken. You then gave us a framed picture which included a beautiful quote that described the “hands”. I got emotional when it was read to me. I liked it so much that I asked [removed name] if I could purchase three more copies of the picture, as I wanted to give one to each of my children as a Christmas gift. Without hesitation, I was given three more, framed and ready to go. I was able to give them to my children on Christmas, and the response to this gift was powerful- everyone was filled with emotion. They were touched, and it made me smile with happiness. Tracy came to me and gave me a hug…She knew that I was emotional and couldn’t speak. I have been so grateful to have found “Palos Senior Living” as a place to spend my time.

Great place for my mom

The staff at Palos were great to work with when I was looking for a place for my mom to move after she had a bad fall at home along with some health problems. Since she has moved into Palos she had done very well and is back to her old self. The staff, the activities, the residents and welcoming atmosphere have made a big difference in her life and is much better than when she lived alone. She has been able to continue her physical therapy on site to maintain the progress she made in rehab and she really likes the availablity of the medical group (doctors and nurse practicioners) that comes to the facility every week to check on her. It has been a great move for my mom and our family. We know she is safe and well cared for at Palos.

Dad is Happy

My Dad moved into Palos Heights Senior Living in early [date removed] after downsizing from his house. From day one, we had a positive experience with the staff and facilities here. [name removed] was especially welcoming, provided great information and she made the entire transition pleasant and efficient for Dad and our whole family. The ongoing experience has been great, even at times when Dad needed some help from the team at PHSL. They are reliable and expert at what they do. Great food and a great weekly activity schedule. Clean and Safe. They have exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend Palos Heights Senior Living! - [name removed]

Love this facility!

I toured this senior living facility with a dear friend as her mother now needs assisted living. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a sweet and helpful woman who gave us a lovely tour. The facility met all of my friend’s mother’s needs, so she moved in. The staff is very kind and caring and they made her move-in a seamless transition from start to finish! We were a bit concerned that she may not be happy with her new home but are pleasantly surprised that she absolutely loves it there! Thanks a million for all you do for the elderly!

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Illinois’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Illinois’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.
