This has been an ongoing issue. We actually missed a doctor’s appointment once because he was not ready to go.\n\nLast week, I experienced the same issue again, but I’ve learned my lesson and now arrive early. This time, I had enough time to change his clothes before we left. When we returned, one of the aides apologized and explained that she had been responsible for getting him ready but had forgotten. I appreciated her being honest with me, but I was still disappointed.\n\nI had asked that he be showered twice a week. He does not particularly like showering and sometimes gives the staff a hard time. I told them that whenever he refuses, they should tell him they would need to call me. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn’t.\n\nThat said, aside from last week, things have been running much more smoothly. At this point, I would rate the community a 4.\n\nHis apartment is great. It is a one-bedroom with a living area, and he has plenty of space. I’m not sure of the exact dimensions, but I can get them if needed.\n\nAs for the food, I see the lunch and dinner menus posted every day, and they sound great with a lot of variety. Unfortunately, I can’t ask him how he likes the food because he lost his sense of taste and smell after having COVID.\n\nEarly on, I also mentioned that the laundry did not smell clean, and unfortunately, that is still an issue. He experienced the same thing when he lived in an assisted living community in North Carolina.
