The Waterford is taking good care of my mom

My mom is in good physical condition, however, she has memory issues. I don't see that she's as bad off as most of the people in memory care. I think it would be good for her to be given things to do. Jobs. Can she help with laundry? Can she help with sorting or organizing things? I would love to see you put her to work so that she's interacting with the staff. I suspect she'll complain about being put to work, but I believe she will be happier. The one thing she tells me week after week is that there's nothing to do… I know you involve her in a lot of things… I know there are a lot of activities for her, but perhaps she just needs to be put to work. That would be a suggestion. Otherwise, I think you're doing a great job.

People seem overworked

Whereas I have had very positive experiences with the staff at the Waterford recently they appear to be too overworked and exhausted to have any kind of real personal connection with me.

My wife has Ahlzheimer disease and with that disease comes horrible changes in the person you love. We moved her into Waterford because it seemed like a good environment with caring people. We were very mistaken. When she would have a typical Alzheimer's anger event, instead of trying to help her, they closed her in her room and left her alone behind a closed door. They wouldn’t give her the meds she needed, so I had to go there late in the evening to give her the meds she needed and spend the night so that I could be there to give her the morning meds. It was over an hour drive each way from our house in Robertson County, so it was impractical to dive back snd forth twice daily. We moved her to Ocean Hospital in Waco and then to [community removed], that is as wonderful as Waterford is not.

First Visit to Norma

I was very worried about how she would treat me after we moved her in on Monday and left without saying goodbye. She was still eating her breakfast at 8:45, sitting at a table with 2 other women. I found out that they were both retired teachers, like my wife. Talking with other women seems to improve her attitude towards life in general. Her appearance was much worse than when she was at home. Her hair gets oily easily and not being washed for 4 days made her look “dirty” and uncared f.or. Her room looked clean, but the bed was unmade. The snack tray that our daughter had made for her was on the floor, under the refrigerator, where hrr back would hurt her, if she bent over to get to it. A folder /Waterford check list had been put in it’s plsce. The staff were very friendly and tried to be helpful when I asked. We made a serious mistake moving [Name Removed]in this week. I felt pressured to move her right away. This is Holy Week and missing church services affected her badly.

We enjoy the smaller, homier environment at Waterford. We’re very happy with our choice to move our loved one in. We are very happy to have found this place. [name removed], [name removed] and [name removed] are great, they are never too busy to answer any questions we have.

I have worked in senior living before and let me tell you, the dedication that the staff of The Waterford have for their residents is amazing!! I recently toured this facility and the concierge, [name removed], was exceptionally welcoming and kind!!! What a great first impression!! During the tour, [name removed] was super helpful and answered ALL my questions with an abundance of reassurance that my loved one would be well cared for. A gem of a community

The Waterford is ran by amazing staff. Recently I came in from out of town to visit my aunt, and was awed by how the staff seemed to genuinely care for their residents. The receptionist was warm and friendly and very helpful, and care staff were attentive and kind. Lots of activities for my aunt to do. [name removed], the business director, was very friendly and had helped my mom with questions she had. All in all, was very impressed!!

The staff incredible and put the residents needs above all else. It's not uncommon to see a staff sitting with a resident so that they aren't alone. Their positive and healthy response to residents makes the entire facility feel like a true family. Kitchen staff go above and beyond to accommodate dietary needs so appreciated.

A happy ending to a tough couple of months.

I feel like my mom as well cared for and has the opportunity to be happy there. She found a friend. People were very helpful when I brought her there at first and she was objecting. Now she seems to have settled in and be pretty happy.

Amazing Team!

Over the summer, we toured the Waterford at College Station for my dad down the road. They had exceptional reviews along with a memory care facility, which was what we would need. We had a great tour, ended up eating lunch there(chicken fried steak did not disappoint) My dad even sat with a fellow Veteran telling their stories. What we thought would be down the road turned into being a placement shortly after when his Alzheimer's had taken a turn for the worse. It was a gift from God that they had one memory care room available right away. We knew his stay was going to be short, but let me tell you, from Dawn to all the other staff members whom I was in constant contact with, were amazing! My dad was blessed to have staff like this caring for him during his last days. We are incredibly grateful to have had a team care for my dad the way they did. Wouldn't have chosen any other facility to do what they did. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you! The [name removed] Family

So refreshing to visit a community, not another facility. All residents smiling laughing & ready to engage and participate .The Activities are amazing having something for everyone’s interest the Activities Lady really goes the extra mile for the residents with genuine care and interest while making the residents feel comfortable. The calm she presented with each resident regardless of health condition or mental behavior was truly touching.

Finding a Place for Dad

The overall experience of my dad being in The Waterford was a 5. [name removed] worked with us on finding a room and getting it set up. [name removed] assessed dad and worked out the medical details of care with the staff. Meals were a highlight of the day. Every plate looked pretty and nutritious. The staff checked on dad every two hours even through the night and took very good care of him. When our family had a question or concern, the staff worked with us on a solution. We highly recommend The Waterford for anyone's loved one.

disappointing

Positives, There are a few employees that care for the residents. I left names off since the reviews tend to redact names. Negatives- Lack of checking on residents- I saw very few employees in the room checking on my dad lack of assistance with bathing and hygiene i.e. my dad rarely had his teeth brushed to the point of film on his teeth meal plans not followed towel rack broken and stayed broken for two months 13 pound weight loss in a 2 month stay lack of empathy of the director and the absolute rudeness and lack of explanation to families.

Had the pleasure of meeting [name removed] today in the sales office. You can tell she has a passion for what she does. Wow…… wow is all I can say. I went in to see about possibly getting my dad placed at the Waterford and the service and attention to detail that Dawn possesses is out of this world. She had my dad feeling so warm and welcomed that he wanted to move in that day. The Waterford is lucky to have Dawn working in their community. Thank you for the best experience ever [name removed]. Oh and the receptionist up front was fantastic, very warm and welcoming when we arrived.
