The Waterford at Decatur
Waterford is great. Exclusively Memory Care. Helpful to my mom who has no other issues. Chose it from about 10 other places. Mom is vascular dementia. She is a very very successful writer. Magna cum laude graduate. Wrote for Atlanta Journal-Constitution. PR and News Release writer for Atlanta office of American Heart Association. Worked on some famous Atlanta non profit organizations. Now she has the typical morning confusion. Afternoons she functions like always. Evenings are expected Sundowning confusion where the real world is taken by her condition. And old faces get confused. Its this horrible condition that starts talking. And her memories are clouded. Everyone at this center knows the battle. All know the disease is lashing out. All are kind and helpful and as caring as can be. She is easing into understanding she is not safe back at the home she knew for 55 years. This team understands like they were called to do this above and beyond a salary. She feels loved by them most of the day. My visits are calmer now. And she almosts trusts me. Her only son. And only close family. To do right by her.

The Madeline of Decatur offers specialized care for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia. Personalized care plans are created to meet every resident's individual care needs while taking their likes and dislikes into account. These plans are fulfilled around the clock by licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants. Residents also have access to on-site medical care and home health care. In the rehabilitation room, seniors can benefit from wellness therapies like speech, occupational, and physical therapy.
Residents reside throughout four neighborhoods and have access to amenities and activities. These neighborhoods provide familiarity for seniors with memory loss, as well as a safe environment with secured access. In each of these neighborhoods, residents can choose between semi-private and private bedroom options. Within the last 3 to 12 months, I’ve noticed that there has been a significant staff shortage at Waterford Of Decatur from Sales to wellness director, clinical coordinator, and mainly issues with the med tech. Are the residents being taken care of properly? Because the lack of staff shortage?

I had an enjoyable visit three days in a row with my sister.[Name Removed] I came to see her from florida.She has only been there 43 weeks, but everyone seems to be very friendly and helpful and she is much better now than she's around a lot of people.She used to be a nurse.So she took on that role and was asking everyone how they are.And it's making her feel much more at home. I enjoyed seeing her interact with other people. And being so friendly, I like that. She can go outside and sit and have a nice place to be.

The staff is great with the residents. The philosophy and the layout of the Waterford is great for patients with memory issues. For the first time in several years, my father engaged with staff and other patients. They allowed him to roam freely and safely and he felt like he had some independence and control back in his life. He made friends and I feel like the last few months of his life were happy and fulfilled. As with any "facility" things aren't perfect there but the staff was very approachable and caring and the facility was safe and clean. I am thankful for the Waterford of Decatur and their giving my father some of his life back at the end!

Waterford at Decatur is in a nice area of east Decatur, GA. Not a lot of traffic and easy to get to. Small but still spacious, it’s a smaller community that is ideal for people who need this sort of care. Very clean and rooms were a decent size. The director was very friendly and informative.

My mom lived at this facility. The care was okay but the finance part was awful. They increased the cost after she was in there for a month talking about a "technology fee." My mother couldn't even use the phone. IT's been 5 months since she died and we are still trying to get a refund. We are getting the run around. If you have LT insurance I would go else where. You will need a monthly invoice which they don't supply automatically and other fees pop up at random times. The staff turn over wasn't as high as other places but still high, but the biggest complaint is the scam on charges which you are told your rental fee is all inclusive then they want to add random fees that your loved one doesn't even need or use. I would not recommend this facility.

Visiting a loved one who lives at the Waterford at Decatur. I had a pleasant experience. Everyone was friendly and my aunt who recently moved these was happy and smiling! She looked great and well cared for. The new place was clean and bright. I loved that music was ploying and office doors were open. Giving me access to ask questions. Nothing hidden. Just GOOD VIBES.
