Comfort Keepers

I like the lady that is with my dad very much. She is very caring. I’m not real a fan of the agency. They seem mostly concerned about getting their money. All the prices seem pretty comparable, though these people tried to raise the cost a dollar an hour.

This was our first experience and we didn’t know what to expect. The staff did a wonderful job going around the house and letting us know what we would need and what to have the caregivers do. The caregiver was young and didn’t seem very interested in talking to my loved one, and that is part of what we were looking for. It was always the same caregiver coming to the house, so there was some consistency. There really weren’t any scheduling issues. Let’s just say that she wasn’t enthused to be gregarious to a senior not willing to let go of control. I loved the way the program worked as far as keeping hours, and billing. I liked that the caregiver would call from my mother’s phone when she arrived and again when she left, and then they would send me an invoice and electronically deduct the bill from my account.

My dad has decided to go with this group for awhile. But they haven't actually started yet. Not sure of what date they have agreed on. He knows that he won't be able to afford their prices for a long period of time. Are there any cheaper in-home groups?

This is an in-home care company. They offer day care as well as personal care and light housekeeping. $13.50 to $15.50 an hour plus 45 cents a mile if they travel with patient. All helpers have extensive background checks and are insured.

$21.50/hr, fully bonded, only use their car

I was really happy with Comfort Keepers in the beginning. However I feel that my family has been mislead. We were told that if the regular CNA did not show up or had to be out due to sickness another replacement would be sent within a couple of hours. I understand being short staffed, however my sister and I have full time jobs too. We depend on Comfort Keepers. But we have been put in the position with a sick CNA staying with my Dad and taking the risk that he will get sick too. I have placed 3 different calls (today 2/5/14) to the office about a replacement. Their only response was that they were working on it ! That is unacceptable and unprofessional.

The only problem I have with Comfort Keppers is that they're a little disorganized as far as miscommunications with medications. There were a couple instances where they came in to give dad his medicine and they left everybody's medication in his apartment. Some of the staff, medically wise I think is a little in outer space or not focused. Ive had several conversations with the head of Comfort Keepers trying to make sure the medications get straightened out and they were good, but then again, I've got to talk to them and call them multiple times and I shouldn't have to. Dad said one aid came in to change his bandages and she was kind of rough and abrupt with him, but he said that didn't happen again and he didn't see her again either. We really keep a close rapport with them and stay on top of them.

Our experience with Comfort Keepers was not a good one. The office staff were always very helpful and easy to work with, but unfortunately we had an issue with the caregiver that they sent. Some valuables went missing shortly after she started and we decided not to continue the service at that point.

The care givers were inconsistent and often sick. I didn't get to see the community to see the cleanliness.

When you sign up they are fine in the office but getting phone calls returned and deposits back after you dont use them is the problem.

Comfort Keepers is very unprofessional. The aid the agency assigned to my grandmother for 8 months left temporarily due to family issues. The agency provided a replacement, however she also left the agency due to the unprofessionalism of the agency. The original aid returned to the agency and came to assist my grandmother for 2 Saturdays, and I was advised by the agency owner that the aid would assist my grandmother going forward, however the scheduler [Removed] called on a Friday to say that the aid was no longer available to assist my grandmother on Saturdays, and assigned an aid to my grandmother who was not available on Saturdays, and could come only on Sundays, which is not convenient for the family. He was also rude and nasty, and stated that the aid could not come on Saturday due to the long distant commute, but I was told by the aid that she was available to work on Saturday's. This agency is under the impression that you have to take what ever aid they give you on the days the agency wants the aid to come not the days you require assistance. DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY. You will be inconvenienced, and disappointed with the service. I am currently looking for another agency to do business with. The agency also would not let me know until a day before that the aid was not available, which didn't give me time to make other arrangements. They were also unable to find a replacement when the aid could not accommodate the regularly scheduled hours. [Removed] the scheduler is rude and nasty. I am changing agencies, and will not be using Comfort Keepers as they have caused me much discomfort.

I was very disappointed with the service I received from Comfort Keepers for my loved one. The aid was often late to our appointment or would cancel last minute. The aid did not motivate my mother to improve on her skills at all and fell asleep on the job multiple times. I did not feel comfortable leaving my mother alone with this company and would not recommend them.

Our experience was very bad with this agency. Often caregivers just didn't show up or call, & the company didn't seem to care. We never knew when or if a caregiver would show. Extremely undependable!

I never ended up using them long term because they kept sending someone different everyday. In one week we had 3 caregivers. I was not happy with them at all. I felt like they were flaky and there was just too much dysfunction.

This is a good company, but not office staff. Unless you do not want to know anything about what's going on as a client or a field employee. They are constantly changing up schedules on clients and not telling them who is coming to their house, nor wanting to tell anything over the phone. They will only tell you over e-mails, which is not professional. I’ve been there when the office manager was yelling at one of the field staff employee’s for the office not telling them some information. I felt so bad for that young lady! I would go with another agency if you can, not to mention that their prices are pretty high unless you have 24 hour care with them.

I would not recommend to anyone. My Mom had a fall while they were 'taking care' of her. She fell when the aide was out of the room. The aide tried to call me 3 times before she called 911. She also put a pillow under her head. Apparently not all the aides are properly trained for an emergency situations

The management is horrible at this company. They have poor communication, and every time they get a thoughtful, caring, very pleasant CC they leave.l have had at least 4 within a 6 month time frame.

I hired this company to provide care for my disabled son. The caregivers they sent were disrespectful, sometimes verbally abusive and did not follow the care plan. At least two of the girls fell asleep on the job and all were constantly on their phones. Communication with the schedulers was extremely poor. I would not recommend this agency!

The Enfield and Springfield CK are the worst ones . The caregivers complain that they want special cleaners, Even though there is disinfectant cleaner there. They change around a Alzheimer house. They didn't have any personal products to use , they took away the correct ones and put the wrong ones on the opposite side of the bathroom, where they would have fallen trying to get to them. Billing is always wrong. they bill too much , when the person is not qualified. At $25.00 a hour I expect alot more that I was given. Keep a close eye on your loved one, and the bills!!!!
