our families experience has room for improvement.

You should add maintenance response to work orders. That would also be a 1. Been there less than a year and they have been thru 2 executive directors and currently don't have one. Same story with maintenance though I feel like they just don't have enough people to cover a building that size and keep losing their manager for that area. Little to no maintenance work orders,including safety issues, are addressed. We currently have 3 open work orders (2 are safety related) that have been open for almost a month. I corrected the fourth on my own. The chef was replaced and the quality of the food has seriously declined. All residents are complaining but no changes have been made. Also service in the dining room is incredibly slow.

Wonderful place!!

The care is awesome! The food is healthy and delicious, the rooms, including the bedrooms and bathrooms are sunny, bright with large windows, and the rooms are a very good size, as are the closets. The staff, including a nurse 24/7, are totally involved with the residents. They take them out on safe excursions and entertain them so that their minds and bodies are active. It's a wonderful place!!!

Overall, our experience has been disappointing. We recognize that staffing challenges exist across many senior living communities, but we had hoped for a higher level of consistency in the care being provided. We've noticed that housekeeping and room maintenance could be improved, and we've often found ourselves helping with tasks like changing bed linens, organizing clothing, and ensuring basic supplies are available. Communication has also been difficult at times, as it can be challenging to reach staff by phone or receive follow-up calls. While there are a few team members who are caring and attentive, the overall level of support has not consistently met our expectations. We also feel that some of the services and care described before move-in have not fully matched our experience, especially considering the monthly cost. One positive is that the meals appear to be nutritious, although meal service has occasionally been inconsistent. Most importantly, we've seen a significant decline in our loved one's condition since moving in, which has been heartbreaking for our family. We continue to hope for improvements in communication, consistency of care, and attention to residents' daily needs.

It's not exactly as it seemed when we toured. I feel like they are experiencing some staff issues. There are some wonderful staff members and some not so great ones. The apartment size is good. Rooms are spacious and kept very clean. Mom seems to enjoy the food so no complaints there.

A Family Member's journey from assisted living to memory care

I have arranged for a private caregiver during the weekdays, which has helped tremendously. Without that additional support, my rating would be much lower. The caregiver often assists with keeping the room clean, changing linens, and helping with laundry, as there does not seem to be consistent housekeeping provided by the facility. My loved one's condition has declined, and during evenings and weekends there appears to be limited supervision. At times, residents are gathered in a common area, but there have been instances where my loved one has returned to their room without staff noticing, which has resulted in missed meals. I have occasionally had to call and remind staff. Most of the aides are kind, but attentiveness and follow-through can be inconsistent. Communication and responsiveness from clinical leadership have also been a concern. There have been some unmet expectations, such as services that were initially promised but not provided despite follow-up. On a positive note, management has shown some flexibility when it comes to pricing, which was appreciated. The food quality has declined somewhat but is still better than in a previous setting. There have also been concerns about medical oversight and coordination of care, including communication around medications and follow-up after hospital visits. These situations required additional involvement from family and outside providers to ensure appropriate care. Overall, while there are caring staff members, families may want to stay closely involved and ask detailed questions about staffing, supervision, housekeeping, and medical coordination.

Story Point: A Great Recommendation From A Place For Mom

Story Point is wonderful! The staff is great-- caring, hard working, lots of activity for the memory care unit. Please recommend it to folks!! The only reason we moved to [community removed] was that they raised our monthly rate $[removed] which was not in accordance with our contract, which allowed a 13% increase yearly. That should have been no more than $[removed].

Experience does not live up to the hype.

My mom gave it a year and the service and maintenance gradually got worse. The 4 year old property has structural issues which include mold. It takes an hour in the dining room to be served. The food is mediocre though occasionally they hit a home run. Housekeeping is not interested in keeping house, and they're having extreme difficulty keeping staff in every department. From [removed dates], they have had three executive directors. StoryPoint Cordova is a mess.

Due to being short handed, many of the activities planned can't be completed. The facility is a beautiful place and makes a great first impression; I was just disappointed that promises made to get someone to move in, wasn't true. The person in charge of the memory care unit is very nice, I have no complaints with her. However, the staff is another issue. They are forever short staffed; an issue I specifically asked about prior to moving in.

There have been many management and staff changes during the time my mother has been there. If they could bring more stability, it would make a big improvement. Short staffing has affected several areas—including the kitchen, housekeeping, and activities—leading to a lack of continuity. That said, it is a lovely place. Currently, there seems to be some unhappiness with the kitchen and menu, but I’m hopeful the new director can make improvements for both the residents and the staff. I want to emphasize that I’ve never had a bad experience with anyone there. The staff are kind and caring. However, seniors become attached to their nurses, caregivers, or even the person at the front desk, and frequent changes can be unsettling. Each transition takes time before things feel back on track. Even with these challenges, I would absolutely recommend this community—and I also recommend A Place for Mom. In fact, I already have. The morning I first received a call from your representative, I was sitting at my desk in tears, not knowing what to do. And then the phone rang—it felt almost like an angel reaching out. I can’t remember her name for certain, but I think it may have been [name removed]. She was incredibly helpful, kind, and professional. She guided me in so many ways and truly helped me hold on to my sanity and health that week.

This facility is like a large, spacious, bright hotel!! The staff are awesome: nurses and caregivers on hand 24 hours a day. Residents are treated to day trips, painting classes, live music, everything you can imaging. There no sitting around waiting to die!! Emery room is bright with sunlight and the meals are hotel quality. I'm am over the moon happy that my husband is in such a wonderful place AND he's very happy there. I've told everyone I know how much I appreciate A Place For Mom

Very Pleasant Community

Nice building with friendly, smiling faces. The pool and gym are nice additions to an already beautiful community. My favorite place is the area with the pinball machines. The games are nice touches to the lounge areas and allows my kids to hang and enjoy fun time with the grands.

BEWARE! Drastically understaffed

BEWARE!! My family and I visited StoryPoint about a month ago with my grandmother, and decided this would be the place for her. Long story short, the facility, which already met her, decided she needed almost more than double the amount of care to the tune of about $[removed] more than what was previously discussed day of move in. There were outstanding circumstances here, however all paperwork was sent to Storypoint 4-5 days in advance of the move. This was all sprung on us, after a 4 hour drive to the facility with movers in tow. After waiting in the "hospitality sweet", for more than 4 hours, we were finally approved to move in. Later in the day, after moving in, we were told we had the incorrect paperwork, and she wouldn't be able to stay the night at the facility. This story continues, and not in a good way, however long story short, we decided to go elsewhere. In your grandmother’s case, that assessment led to a care plan requiring more support than initially anticipated. Regarding the community fee, this is a one-time, non-refundable charge outlined in the signed agreement. It helps cover administrative and operational costs associated with preparing for move-in. That said, although our policy typically requires a 30-day notice for move-out, we did waive that requirement in your case to help ease the burden during an already difficult time. Overall a nice community.

I like the size of mom's apartment, the fact that they have a pool and a salon on site, and that she could do physical therapy on site when she needed it. I think they need to perhaps do a better job of orientation for new residents.

The nursing and care staff in the memory unit are extremely helpful and professional, working to meet each resident with the care needed for their particular situation. The entire facility is clean, well maintained and provides a beautiful environment for the residents. There have been a number of positive changes implemented by the new management (as of [date removed]) including improved meals, more activities, a memory-care support group, and other changes discussed that are coming soon The executive team has also been top notch - professional, super responsive and very helpful.

The director [name removed] is fantastic. The folks that run the events are great. The nurses are very helpful. We have struggled a bit with memory care personnel not being trained in memory as they need to be. There has been lots of turnover with the management change. Food is good but not gourmet. Service is really slow due to understaffed 1-2hrs to get dinner. We have considered moving them with some frustration but things are getting better and it would be more disruptive to move them at this point. The complaints are mostly irritants but some I expect more for the cost. They are there when it counts though so far.

My family experience

My mom has been more social since being there. She is happy and active in this facility. The food is great. We had a private meal with our family for her birthday and it was really good. We have been disappointed with lack of some personal communication with admin staff. Not sure they are performing all of housekeeping tasks We assumed were included in cost. Overall we are satisfied.
